About Jonathan

As far as my background in tutoring goes, I began my experience in tutoring with helping friends in middle and high school in preparation for tests and with regular homework problem help. It was from that experience that I built a foundation in clear and concise communication skills. I continued my tutoring experience in college when I would be would be working with a local tutoring center assisting students in varying levels of math and physics presented up to high school including preparation for SAT and ACT's. For two years, I worked with students from grade school to high school and can successfully identify commonly made mistakes and develop step by step comprehension techniques for future use.

In preparing students for tests, I find it best if the student has with him or her recently taken quizzes or tests and we can review over missed questions, then going more in depth in any topic the student wishes to focus on. If it's assistance in homework, I am able to watch from across a table (viewing the problems upside down) as the student goes to each one and quickly catch any mistakes made and will let them know and appropriate for clear understanding on correcting their mistakes for future problems.

Currently,, I am in my fourth years of education at the University of California, Riverside majoring in mechanical engineering.

Standardized test scores of mine include a SAT score of 1920 with a math score of 740, critical reading of 560, writing of 620. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Study Skills

I am qualified to tutor in study skills because I have successfully assisted students of ages varying from 8 years old to 20 with different backgrounds and needs. I have been able to successfully adjust my tutoring style to fit all kinds of needs and in turn allow me to broaden a student's style of learning to comprehend topics they may not have initially felt comfortable with at first. These skills I'm referring to include visualizing problems for physics or math or creating outlines for history or English.

Jonathan helped me understand 2d forces equations and also helped with understanding the motion equations. He was very patient and helped fill in gaps in my knowledge that I hadn't been taught at my college. Great tutor and really understands how and why the equations work.
