About Armando

Hello! Thanks for visiting my tutor profile. I am a recent graduate from UC San Diego. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Economics. I am currently working on attending medical school. I hope to be a family medicine physician or cardiologist.

Mathematics has always been a passion of mine. I consistently practiced math problems as a child. I continued to do so throughout my college career. I learned from the many mistakes I made on the myriad of math topics. I can be a great resource for you, or your student, on how to do most mathematical operations. I will do my best to explain what it takes to conquer the most challenging of concepts.

During college, I took a many classes in the sciences. These included cell biology, organic chemistry, and physics. These courses were difficult to achieve, but I did my best at employing study techniques. I can share these as well with students to help them achieve success.

I had the opportunity to learn the science behind these study skills (and some I never learned!) in a online course offered by UCSD. It's titled "Learning How to Learn" and it was great at teaching me the science behind studying.

I hope you consider me as a potential tutor and look forward to working with you, or your student.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

The ACT is one of the most important exams a high school student can take for college admission. I will work with students to help them understand the concepts needed to score high on their exam. I scored a 32 on the math portion of the exam in high school and can help students achieve that same success.

Algebra 1

As a graduate from UC San Diego with a Bachelor's in Mathematics/Economics, I am most familiar with Algebra I and Algebra II and can help your child succeed in their course. I will work with him or her to lay down the fundamentals vital to their academic careers in high school and beyond. I received an A in Algebra I many years ago in middle school and will have no trouble showing your child the ropes.

Algebra 2

I took Algebra II Accelerated in high school and received an A average.

Linear Algebra

I took a course on Linear Algebra at UC San Diego. We explored many topics such as basic and free variables, linear transformations, eigenvectors and eigenvalues, and singular value decomposition. I have a good grasp on the subject and found no trouble with the material. In the end, I received an A in the course.

MCAT

I took both the MCAT and MCAT 2015. I studied with Princeton Review and received a score above average. I can review what I learned and what could be emphasized in preparing for the exam.

Organic Chemistry

I have taken the CHEM 140 series at UC San Diego. I ended last quarter with an A average in these courses. I am good with NMR spec and carboxylic acid chemistry.

Prealgebra

I took Prealgebra in middle school and received an A average.

Precalculus

I have taken AP Calculus AB in high school. I received a 5 on the AP Exam. I have also taken Calculus and Analytical Geometry of Science and Engineering at UC San Diego.

SAT Math

I can tutor all SAT math including SAT I Math, SAT II Math Level 1, and SAT II Math Level 2. These exams can be vital to a high school student's college application toward academic success. I will work with students to help them understand the concepts of the exam and how to approach the exam on test day. My highest SAT II Math Level 2 score in high school was a 670. With my help, students can aim high and work hard to bring a better score.

Trigonometry

I took Trigonometry in conjunction with Precalculus in high school and received an A average.

Great tutor who did more than I expected — First of all, communication wise, Armando was good at replying to messages rather quickly here on WyzAnt. He first asked what I needed help on, and I told him that I had a really weak foundation on Sn1, Sn2, E1, and E2 reactions. Once we met, I was greeted not only by his person, but a packet that he had made just for our tutoring session! I was completely surprised! He actually put extra time and ...
