In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have worked with multiple children with ADD/ADHD both in the classroom as well as when I worked for a tutoring agency. I know many techniques to work with these students including providing frequent breaks, small quiet settings and focus points or manipulatives. Additionally during my MA Ed program I took a course on working with exceptional children which included coursework in working with children with ADD/ADHD.

I have taught Algebra at both the middle and high school level for several years. Additionally, I acted as a tutor in the Math Lab at the local community college for students who were taking College Algebra as well as remedial classes.

Additionally during my MA Ed program I took a course on working with exceptional children which included coursework in working with children on the Autism Spectrum.

I studied at Simpson University which is a Christian University in Redding, Ca. As part of my educational program I took multiple courses in Biblical Studies including courses devoted to both the New and Old Testament.

I have previously taught in the classroom in the K-6 environment at a number of grade levels in a variety of classroom settings. Additionally while working for a previous tutoring agency I worked with students at the K-6 level. I taught these students in both mathematics and language arts.

I previously worked at a tutoring agency where one of my primary focuses was working with students in mathematics. This included working with children to build skills in elementary mathematics.

I acted as a tutor in the Math Lab at the local community college for students who were taking Finite Math as well as College Algebra and remedial classes. Additionally while working for a previous tutoring agency I worked with adult students tutoring them in Finite Math as well. I have also previously worked as a classroom teacher in Mathematics as well.

I have taught study skills to students in a variety of classroom and independent settings. I frequently worked on teaching study skills to students when I previously was a tutor. Additionally when working for a tutoring agency I was the primary instructor for their study skills program. This included teaching students organizational skills, time management skills, how to use graphic organizers & visual aids, how to read & take notes as well as test taking skills. I also teach study skills as part of University 101 at CSU, Chico during the fall semester.
