Cal State, Northridge (Child Development)
Hope International University (Master's)
Hi there! My name is Taisha and I am currently a Marriage and Family Registered Intern. Here is a little background information on me: I graduated from Cal State University Northridge with my Bachelor's in Child Development. Here I learned that children develop at different rates and learn in many different ways. Obtaining my undergrad degree helped me to understand this as well as become more sensitive to how children grow and develop. It was an amazing time and I even had the chance to volunteer in a kindergarten class as well as for a preschool class to get a more hands on experience of how to interact with children and assist them according to their needs. Every child is unique and should be treated as such.
I then went on to get my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hope International University in Orange CA. This was another wonderful experience because it taught me how to communicate effectively with children and adults as well as become even more passionate and understanding to an individual. All things should be taken into account when it comes to adult and children, our past and present greatly affect us, which can definitely alter the way a child learns. I think it is important to understand these things while tutoring because you can never help a child unless you look at things holistically.
While my schooling has definitely taught me how to build relationships and communicate with children, it has also taught me about a lot different subjects, which I believe will help me be successful in tutoring children. I hope this helps you understand a little more about me and I look forward to working with you! :) Hi there! My name is Taisha and I am currently a Marriage and Family Registered Intern. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
