I graduated from CSU Long Beach with a B.A. in Anthropology, and will be going to graduate school in order to pursue a career in elementary education. I have been an ESL tutor for 2 years, and I am currently volunteering at a local library as a facilitator.
During my time as an ESL tutor and library volunteer, I feel that I have acquired the skills that are needed to become an effective tutor. Along with these skills, creativity and patience plays a significant role in teaching in order to properly illustrate a number of ideas to both kids or adults. I feel confident that I can motivate students so that they can truly grasp the material being discussed.
I am very passionate about teaching. I want to provide a friendly and positive environment for students who feel unmotivated or discouraged because of differing circumstances. I strive to utilize any educational tools and materials provided in order to help ensure that the students understand the certain concepts at hand. I will do anything it takes to have students realize that nothing is impossible as it seems, and that school can be truly redeeming and enjoyable.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
