Through my substitute teaching experience, I have firsthand knowledge into the daily lesson plans and curriculum of K-5 students. I have experience in all Common Core math strategies to ensure number sense is achieved as well as teaching math using standard algorithm methods. My objective as your child's tutor is to develop lessons and goals that will make your child successful and confident inside the classroom. A solid foundation of math will help your child build their understanding of more complex computations as they grow.
Reading

Reading

In my opinion, reading is the foundation to a successful education. I believe a child can be successful with a strong teacher, a knowledgeable tutor, if necessary, and the support of their family. As your child's tutor, identifying areas of reading deficiency and a knowledge of grade appropriate expectations are critical to developing a successful reading comprehension program, both at home and during tutoring sessions. Programs can also be designed for students looking to boost reading and comprehension levels during extended breaks and summer vacations.

Writing

Writing

Writing can be one of the most daunting subjects for children in elementary school. Organization and an understanding of the student's grading rubric, in my opinion, can make a student achieve success. After assessing your child and developing an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses, goals can be put in place to help them improve weak skills or help them get ahead during long breaks and summer vacations. Whether it's opinion, explanatory, or informational based writing, I am confident that your child will be able to successfully write an essay with ease.
