University of California - San Diego (Political Science)
I'm an undergraduate student at the University of California - San Diego, studying for a major in Political Science. Education has always been an interest of mine, and while I don't have the most experience in teaching, I'm passionate about helping students reach their potential. While I'm knowledgeable about many subjects, I'm especially passionate and proficient in English and writing, as a career aspiration of mine is to become a writer, having already published my first novel. As a result, I have a powerful comprehension of the English language, having scored 5's on my AP tests and very well on the SAT.
I'm also a patient and articulate individual, skills I developed in my time participating in my high school's Theater program, in which I won many trophies, including a 1st place one, at DTASC, southern California's largest Theater competition. I also developed important skills in terms of creativity and presentation during this time, also important for tutoring.
While I'm also versed in other subjects, I'm probably most proficient in English and writing. Literature has always been a passion of mine, and I'm very well read in terms of English language classics. I'm also a very proficient writer. Having scored a 2190 on my SAT and 5's on my AP Literature and Writing tests, I think I am especially prepared to help students study for those challenging tests. I also am a talented writer, having published a novel, and know how to write quality academic essays. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
