Teaching is and always has been my biggest passion. As a summa cum laude graduate and a recent graduate from a Masters program, I know firsthand that the teaching methods, passion for teaching, and enthusiasm of any given teacher plays a big role in academic success. I have extensive experience in teaching, and I always try to inspire my students the way that my teachers did for me. I have until recently taught introductory philosophy courses to undergraduate students at the University of Missouri. I loved stimulating thought among my students, welcoming them to share their opinions, and encouraging them to come up with creative solutions to various problems. I have also worked as an Instructor for an English Summer Program for two consecutive summers, where I planned and taught lessons in English, music, dance, and international culture to children in Japan. I have also taught English as a foreign language to students of all ages. Through these experiences, I have found that I often learn just as much, if not more, from my students than they learn from me. This reciprocal relationship between teacher and students is one of the many reasons that I love teaching.
I specialize in teaching English, reading, writing, spelling & grammar, ESL, Japanese (I am proficient in both English and Japanese), philosophy, and logic/critical reasoning. Whatever subject I am teaching, I strive to keep my students challenged and motivated, and I love to push my students to think outside of the box. I hold myself to a high standard and will therefore often ask for feedback, as I immensely value my students' opinions. I try to be flexible with time. I have a 12-hour cancellation policy, but am always willing to offer make-up lessons.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! Teaching is and always has been my biggest passion. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in philosophy in 2011 and a Master of Arts in philosophy in 2014. I took numerous logic courses while I was studying philosophy at both the undergraduate and graduate level. While I was a master's student, I worked as a graduate teaching assistant; I taught several philosophy courses to undergraduate students, including logic courses. I led class discussions, helped students with their logic homework, graded my students' work, assisted with writing exams and homework assignments, and held office hours to help my students outside of the classroom.
