My love for art started when my Mom gave me a set of crayola and paper. I was five years old. Since then I have never stopped making art. This led me to finish college with a Bachelors' degree in Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines and later on as I delved into digital arts, I finished a course in Digital arts at Pasadena College. For over 20 years now I have been exhibiting my paintings here and abroad. I have joined many juried shows in Los Angeles and San Diego art galleries.
My first job after I graduated was teaching art in a private school. Then I started holding private lessons for both adults and children. I have always loved and enjoyed teaching. Seeing what my students have created is what makes it all worth it. The joy it provides me comes from the fact that I was instrumental to a person's discovery of his gifts and talents while having fun. That to me is SUCCESS!
My approach to teaching is always generally based on the child's level and skills. I allow him to relate his experiences and self expression to be included in his process of art making whether drawing or painting. I start off with basics as the foundation. I am pretty good laying down the foundation first for every student. Just like a building that will not stand strong without a good foundation.
I specialize in painting and drawing. The study of Color theory and Composition are key in my curriculum. To gain a complete grasp of creating a painting, at least eight lessons are required. I have created a comprehensive curriculum to achieve confidence in developing a style. Please be assured I am willing to travel to help you create your masterpiece!
I am flexible with time although weekends are now most preferable for me. I would request a 24 hour notice when canceling a schedule. I encourage a make up time when this happens.

Cynthia is very focused on the student and their needs. She alters lessons to their interests. She is super friendly! Great at teaching fundamentals.
Ms. Cynthia is a very nice lady who encouraged my daughter to get to know the basic drawing skills. She was very patient and helped my daughter make small progress at a time without losing interest. She is really a good drawing teacher. I would like to recommend to other students who are interested in drawing.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
