I am a credentialed math teacher who loves math. It has always been my favorite subject, and I get a kick out of seeing how the numbers all work out. I have taught math for many years in both the public and private school settings. In addition, I have tutored others since I was in high school. Besides teaching, I am passionate about competitive swimming and have coached age group, high school, college, and adult swim teams. I just have a great desire to impart to others all I have learned about the subjects I enjoy.
I realize not everyone understands math concepts the same way. I make sure I can explain concepts in a number of ways. Plus, I don't try to hurry a student through a problem. I want the student to understand the process and be able to repeat it on his/her own.
I am also a very reliable and dependable employee. Once an appointment is set, I don't miss it. I respond to communication as quickly as I can and most definitely before the end of the day. As a swim coach, I must undergo and pass a clearance check every year. I always pass and can provide evidence of this upon meeting you.

This was our first session so we focused on one assignment and getting to know Beth. She was very patient and satisfactorily completed the assignment with student under her direction. He is looking forward to another tutoring session.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
