About Paige

I am currently a third year student at UCI, studying Computer Science and Computer Engineering. I have over five years of experience with private tutoring. I have primarily tutored Physics, Math, English, Reading Comprehension, SAT/ACT preparation, and general study skills. My primary goals while tutoring are to help students become more confident with their academic abilities and understanding of subjects. I enjoy helping students to improve their conceptual comprehension of topics and the topics and the thought process they use to analyze problems, as I feel these skills are the most beneficial - both with respect to the current topic and across all academic fields.
I have tutored students in grades three through 12, as well as various university courses. I've taken all of the AP classes that I tutor students for and scored well on both the ACT and SAT.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have experience tutoring test preparation skills (increasing confidence and ability, and good habits to maintain these) and have tutored each of the ACT subjects individually as well. I scored well on the exam and enjoy helping students to improve their own scores. When tutoring, I focus first on general study skills (practicing these with questions from the subjects the student wants to improve most), before moving onto studying each subject.

ACT Reading

I earned a near perfect reading-comprehension score on the SAT (780) and a perfect reading score on the ACT (36), and have tutored reading comprehension for three years. I primarily focus on skills and techniques to improve one's ability to interpret passages and to improve the score reflected on applicable tests.

Algebra 2

I have four+ years experience tutoring algebra 2, as well as experience with Prealgebra and Algebra 1 which I find are very useful to review to help solidify a students understanding of Algebra 2.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a year of experience privately tutoring elementary school math, english, and science, in addition to many volunteer hours as a teacher's aid for elementary school teachers. I have tutored students in grades 3 through 10 and am comfortable tutoring all levels of math, science, and english in elementary school.

Elementary Math

5 years of experience tutoring math and science to students in elementary and middle school. I've tutored 5 students in elementary school, in grades 3-6, and 3 of these students I tutored in math. I am very comfortable working with younger students and have experience keeping their focus on the subject during a session and helping to develop their comprehension.

Physics

I have over four years of experience tutoring Physics, and have tutored students at a standard high school level, in AP Physics classes, and at a university level. I have tutored the subject to students with and without a strong base established in Calculus and other maths.

Prealgebra

I have been a volunteer pre-algebra tutor for a year at an after school program for middle school students and I have also privately tutored 5 students.

Reading

I've tutored reading comprehension skills to elementary and junior high students and have seen significant improvement in their reading speed, confidence, and comprehensive abilities.

Study Skills

I have been tutoring for 5 years in beginning French, all levels of Math, high school and university physics, and most junior high and elementary school subjects. I earned a near perfect reading comprehension score on the SAT (780) and can help students improve their own comprehension of textbooks or other reading material. I earned straight A's in 5 AP classes in high school and have very strong personal study skills which I look forward to sharing with others to help them improve their own study habits.
