I'm Brandy! I am an award-winning screenwriter and playwright with a Master's Degree from Carnegie Mellon University. I have worked in the theater/entertainment industry as a writer, researcher, and director for 10 years. Throughout that time I've worked as a teacher both in and out of the classroom, with students of all ages. I strive to meet students where they are, and enjoy sharing my love of literature, the arts, and a job well-done with my students!

I'm Brandy! I am an award-winning screenwriter and playwright with a Master's Degree from Carnegie Mellon University. I have worked in the theater/entertainment industry as a writer, researcher, and director for 10 years. My MFA from Carnegie Mellon University is in Dramatic Writing, a concentration within the School of Drama. I taught an undergraduate writing course at Carnegie Mellon and graduated Summa Cum Laude, with a certificate of teaching excellence from CMU's Eberly Center. I previously earned a BA in English/Theatre from Loyola University Chicago, where I received the Department of Fine and Performing Arts' Outstanding Academic Achievement Award.

As a teacher I strive to encourage both the creativity of my artistic background and the detail and clarity needed in my professional work. Whether I'm working with college, adult, or younger students, the unifying factor is energy and engagement. I believe when we care about a topic and feel good about our own abilities, we can think more deeply and critically, and also enjoy learning. I also believe in helping students find their own answers through questions and thoughtful discussion. Learning is a life-long process and I am always learning from my students!

I am an award-winning screenwriter with experience writing spec scripts, TV pilots, and Screenplays. My feature script LOVE, GENOME won first place in the Sloan/CMU Screenplay Competition. My degree from Carnegie Mellon School of Drama focused on writing for all performance mediums including film and television. I studied film production and television writing as well as creating immersive recorded experiences.
