California Polytechnic State University: San Luis Obispo (Biology)
I'm a recent grad from California Polytechnic State University: SLO in the department of Biological Sciences. In my years at the university, I've had the privilege to take a wide variety of biology and chemistry classes that provided me with techniques used in the research field, along with improved critical thinking, data analysis, and problem solving skills.
I've also recently taken on education roles in chemistry to help lower-clansmen become passionate about chemistry and the sciences. I have strived to make a difference and help close the information gap between the professor and students by challenging the students to think of new ways to interpret their lessons. This position provided me the opportunity to supervise an introductory chemistry lecture and lab section of 50+ undergraduate students, and pushed me to understand the material in such depth that I would be able to fluently explain it to other students.
As your tutor, I will make sure you are not able to understand the information you need to know, but master it by teaching you how to ask questions, how to study, and how to become the best student you can.
Overall, I possess a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biological Sciences with an Anatomy and Physiology concentration. And I was a part of the of the following fraternities: Alpha Chi Sigma: Professional Chemistry Fraternity; Beta Beta Beta: Academic Biology Honor Society; and Phi Theta Kappa: Scholastic Honor Society.
I've also taken all courses related to general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, biology, biochemistry, genetics, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, immunology, and more. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
