There are not many things in life you can look for shortcuts to results, but luckily test preparation is one of them! There are not many things in life you can look for shortcuts to results, but luckily test preparation is one of them! I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Engineering Physics, and is currently completing my Masters at UC Berkeley in Electrical Engineering (IC Design). I had a perfect score of 800 in SAT Math, SAT Physics and was in the 99th percentile in ACT Math, ACT Writing and ACT Science. My Graduate Records Exam (GRE) places me in the 90th percentile in both Math and Verbal. I have passed 8 AP Exams including 5's in AP Physics B, AP Physics C, AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP Art History. I have tutored these subjects with over 200 students in the past 10 yrs.
In 2005, I founded a tutoring start-up in San Francisco focusing on SAT/ACT test prep and was the manager there from 2005 to 2008. I have developed SAT/AP level material and trained numerous instructors and students. Students are definitely under tremendous stress these days and it takes nothing but persistence, consistency and strategy to succeed. While the first two require discipline, I’d be glad to share my experience in test-taking skills that lead to results in the shortest amount of time possible.
AP/SAT/ACT Tutoring:
Succeeding in AP/SAT/ACT is like training for a marathon (which I have done many!), no one should expect an overnight transformation. But with proper strategy and preparation, everyone can do it, and do it well! I had developed an intensive training plan that was used by more than 200 students. On average, students can expect to see their SAT score raised by at least 25% from their baseline (e.g., 1600 to 2000). Contrary to what many believe, there are no secrets to my training: practice, strategies, and practice more. My training plan is flexible and can be modularized and integrated into every student's schedule. It comes in the form of initial evaluation, and iterations of strategy session and actual practice. I received my college training in Engineering/Mathematics but I also developed test prep material for SAT Writing.
In addition, I speak Cantonese, Mandarin and Japanese.
