I entered teaching because I have a love for children and a love for learning. My early years of teaching were with preschool age children who were severely handicapped. Working with students who have special needs taught me that every student is capable of learning and I strive to bring out the full potential of any student I work with.
For the last 4 years I have been working in a variety of capacities for the Pleasant Valley School District in Camarillo. I have been a substitute teacher, a 1-1 instructional aide for students with special needs and most recently a Title 1 Reading intervention teacher for Kindergarten and 1st grade students. All of these experiences have given me opportunities to see students across a variety of grades and work with great teachers in the district.
For the months of May and June, I will be available weekday afternoons, all day Saturdays, and Sunday afternoons. After June, I will be available all day during the week. I have a very flexible schedule and am confident I will be able to work with families to find days and times that work best for them.
I have worked for the last 2 years with a reading specialist from PVSD and have learned the latest theories and methods for teaching reading. I have led small group reading instruction for elementary students encompassing a wide variety of needs.
I have worked in a variety of settings in the PVSD over the last 4 years and have had the opportunity to work with many great teachers in the district. I have learned a lot from them about the latest methods and theories in elementary education.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a credentialed teacher with a clear multiple subject credential. I am currently working for my local school district as a Title 1 reading intervention teacher for primary grades.
