University of Southern California (Communication)
Experienced, fun, friendly tutor in Los Angeles, California!
Let me tell you a little bit about me, since you're going to want to know who you are hiring! I attended the University of Southern California, graduated Magna Cum Laude, and achieved a Bachelor's degree, before which I was Valedictorian of my high school.
Don't let that fool you, I was successful in school, but I had no help, and I definitely suffered emotionally and physically as a result. Sometimes, more often than not, we need help! In retrospect, though I didn't want to admit it at the time, I needed a tutor. I did well on my own, but I could have done even better, with half the amount of stress if I had known what I know now!
So, of course you/your child/student could be struggling with a class, test prep, grasping the material, etc., and simply needs more individual one-on-one teaching, in ways that are more catered to your/their specific learning needs. That's what I'm here for.
Or, in regards to my personal story above, perhaps you/your child/student is not struggling with the material per say, you/they might just be under too much pressure and need a little help honing energy/focus, and learning how to manage time efficiently.
Whatever the case may be, you/your child/student will become comfortable with difficult material/situations and be ready to take on the world by the time we're finished!
In addition to tutoring in all of the standard school subjects--Math, English, Science, History, College test prep, Writing, etc., I also tutor the electives/extra-curricular's: Performing Arts such as Drama, Theatre History, Art History, Music history, Improv/Acting, Dance (all styles including Tap), Voice and Movement, Physical Education/fitness/health/nutrition and more.
In addition, I emphasize the importance of critical thinking and absorbing/retaining material in a way that students can apply to other subjects, thereby ensuring a more grounded and thorough understanding of any/all material. The goal is for students to be able to apply what they're learning to the world/environment in which they live for a better future.
My students learn to apply the struggle to succeed in whichever area they need improvement to their desired (or even unknown) future endeavors, through the use of setting/achieving realistic goals, having a good time, releasing the tension of school-induced stress, and actually enjoying the learning process. Learning/discovering is one of the greatest joys of life; school should not be loathed or dreaded. My goal is to reignite the spark of seeing how exciting learning can be! Experienced, fun, friendly tutor in Los Angeles, California!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been trained in all areas of dance including ballet, folk, modern, jazz, ballroom, hip hop, tap and more from a very young age and consequently have upwards of ten years of dance experience. I have professionally choreographed theatre shows, variety shows, worked as a dance instructor at various youth studios and dance camps, and more!
Through AP History courses, AP literature courses, and extensive study of theatre history and ancient culture, I am well versed in the classics. From high school and throughout college in various theatre, literature, and ancient culture classes I have read/am familiar with a wide variety of Greek and Roman classics, as well as classics that came later (such as those by Shakespeare or Moliere). I have a more in-deph understanding because of the well-rounded education I received in the history of the time and cultural/social norms, as opposed to simply knowing the stories themselves. My knowledge and expertise span the most popular such as Oedipus Rex and the Oresteia, to more obscure pieces of literature such as the Bakkai.
I worked as an assistant College Counselor for 6 months with a professional college counselor. My daily tasks included meeting with parents, planning and discussing four year college preparatory course plans for high school students, updating and informing parents on college admission requirements, and more.
I went to the University of Southern California where I received a Bachelor's degree and minored in film at the USC School of Film and Television, one of the most renowned film schools in the world.
I am an expert in public speaking from professional development and professional presentation preparation to special occasion public speaking to classroom speeches/presentations and more. I have a degree in communication from the University of Southern California, have taken various different forms of public speaking classes in Communication, theatre, and film and can assist in the basics of argumentation and advocacy, debate, how to plan and write a speech, execution, tips and tactics for nerves and how to act in front of an audience and how to diffuse awkward or embarrassing situations through public interaction. Based on a curriculum designed in my communication courses designed through social science research, theory, and methods of public speaking that are proven to be effective. Whether it is anxiety and confidence, struggling to plan/organize thoughts, preparing presentations, or simply knowing what to say, I can help determine the best way for you to tackle public speaking on your own terms.
I spent three years taking commercial acting classes as a child, and four years in a conservatory style theatre ensemble program. In addition, I minored in theatre at the University of Southern California and have an extensive background in acting, improvisation, script analysis, movement, voice, Shakespeare studies, and various/different methods of acting from Stanislovsky to Alexander technique and back to Lee Strasburg, in addition to clowning, comedy, and solo performance. In addition, I have starred in Hamlet, Cyrano De Bergerac, Macbeth, Guys and Dolls, Hair, and more, but I also have an extensive background in Theatre tech, crewing, and stage management. I can tutor in any and all of the above mentioned fields.
