I am a teacher that graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland with a bachelor's degree in government and politics/philosophy. My minor was writing. I am a member of Phi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Society. I remain a political scientist. I was a teacher for over 25 years in the public school system and hold credentials in mathematics, the English language arts, and the social sciences. I am an author of, "Algebra Fundamentals for Ultrasound Techs: A Student's Guide."

It is not enough to know mathematics...you must know HOW to teach mathematics. In this arena, I am very strong having taken over 10 classes in the methodologies of teaching mathematics and language arts.

Furthermore, I insist that all of my students be organized, take notes, and be logical and neat when taking notes. I insist that my students always be asking the most important question of all questions..."WHY?" And before I can solve a problem, I must be able to define exactly what the problem is.

I taught middle school and high school when I was a teacher in the public school system. Before I retired, I decided that I wanted to continue to teach privately. From my years of experience, I realized that most of the problems began in elementary school. Since 2013, I have successfully taught children from 1st grade to 8th grade with specialization in defining exactly what the problem is that your child may be having. From there, it is a short time before the problem is finally resolved. Many of my students were to be placed in remedial math and by the end of the school year had advanced to honors math.

I excel in finally lifting the "Veil of Mystification" that has been enshrouding the parents and, most importantly, the child.

I have exceptional abilities in phonemic awareness. I am able to teach English the correct way and that means not only phonemic awareness but the Greek and Latin roots...the foundation of the English language.

I am able to pinpoint the exact weakness in reading such as: Cause and Effect, Character Descriptions, Character Traits, Context Clues, Drawing Conclusions, Fact and Opinion, Figurative Language, Literature, Main Idea, Making Inferences, Point of View, and Story Elements.

My minor in college was WRITING so I am very strong in effectively teaching writing as well as grammar. Even though I am a successful mathematics, language arts, and social sciences teacher, I believe that teaching writing is the most difficult of all of the subjects. Selecting the appropriate vocabulary is quite easy. What is difficult is deciding what supporting details ultimately SUPPORT YOUR THESIS. And how do the supporting details "connect" with each other? Most people are not aware of this but in the English language, the form of our writing, i.e., the way we write the paper, is as important as what we are writing in the paper. I am extremely competent in teaching writing from the thesis, main ideas, supporting detail, linking the main ideas, properly research and finding relevancy in the research, to the conclusion. Your reader will want to read what you have written because very quickly they become aware that you have something important to say. In the final analysis, this is all that matters.

I get along famously with all children and adults regardless of their age. I have a unique ability to communicate effectively with children and adults. I am able to show parents WHY their child is having difficulty. And I am able to show parents HOW we will have their child not only "catch up" but EXCEL!

All of the students that I have taught to sit for the ISEE OR HSPT were immediately accepted into the school of their choice. Many of them received scholarships.

As for the ASVAB, most of the students that I have taught came to me after they tried 1-2 times to take the ASVAB and scored so low that their dreams of entering the US Armed Forces seemed to be slipping away. After teaching these find young men and women, without exception, all that took the ASVAB scored high enough that entrance into the military was a given.

Your Choice...If you want the "VEIL OF MYSTIFICATION" to be finally LIFTED from yourself and/or your child...Let me know...Yasmin

Hi, my name is Yasmin. I get along famously with children because I care about children and their future. I am a credentialed teacher with over 25 years experience in the public school system. I have the unique ability to specifically identify the areas of weakness in any study at the Elementary level. I also know the specific route to correction of these weaknesses in a relatively short period of time. I not only know WHAT to teach, I also know HOW to teach. I am an expert at phonemic awareness...the basic building blocks of reading.

Hi....My name is Yasmin. I am an expert at assessing the exact location(s) of the "weak link in the chain" in mathematics. I not only know WHAT to teach in math but HOW to teach math. I have specifically studied, in university, methodologies of teaching mathematics. I will teach your child how to use LOGIC instead of memorizing math and I will teach your child to always be asking the question, "WHY?"

I am an experienced, credentialed TEACHER....NOT A TUTOR! I am able to ascertain what needs to be learned for each grade level and I guarantee your child/children will learn and learn exceedingly well. I am not interested in mediocrity. I am interested in helping all students have choice in their life.... I hold active teaching credentials in the State of California in mathematics, language arts, and the social sciences. I taught for over 25 years in the public school system. I have great strength in teaching mathematics, phonemic awareness and thus reading, and writing. I know WHAT to teach and I know HOW to teach.

I am a professional teacher...not a tutor...and hold teaching credentials in mathematics, language arts, and the social sciences. I hold both a bachelor's degree and a graduate degree. I taught in the public school system for over 25 years. I understand WHAT to teach and HOW to teach READING! This means that I take you down the path to learn to read so that you are no longer reading on a flat, 2-dimension. That means understanding what you are reading instead of reading to yourself, in your head, in a monotone voice and not understanding anything. You will enter the world of READING COMPREHENSION.
Spelling,

Spelling

Not only did I minor in English, specifically composition, when I was in college, I am an active credentialed teacher in mathematics, Language arts, and the social sciences. Oh...I know why spelling in English is so difficult. It is the most difficult language in the world. Unlike all other languages in the world, the way that we write English and the way that we speak English are two different things. Strange but true! I have studied linguistics, I have studied the development of language, I am completely knowledgeable about English, its history, its structure, its spelling, its 44 phonemes and what that means, the rules, Greek Roots, and the linguistic study of English. Want to know what I mean? Read below..... How many ways are there to write the long E vowel sound in English? Give up? One e: As in....I will be there. Two e: As in....Do you hear the buzzing of the bee? e_e: As in....Give me the donut with the creme center. ea: As in.....I am going to listen to my teacher. ___Y As in.....Do you hear a baby? _i_ As in.....What is your belief about your generation? Think about all the ways there are to spell the sounds of English. Now you are beginning to get the picture. There are over 500,000 in the English language and it grows by at least 1,500 words a year. English is a living language. And even though your computers, whether desktops, or iPads, or cellphones, will auto correct spelling errors, you have to remember that computers do NOT THINK! Computers cannot logically deduce. Computers can only recognize when a word is spelled incorrectly. Don't believe me? Ok....I'll prove it to you. Consider the following homophones. affect effect These two words are homophones meaning they sound the same but have completely different spelling, meanings, usages, roots...a computer cannot differentiate homophones. All it recognizes is that the word, even though used incorrectly, is spelled correctly. The wrong word used, although correct in spelling, can change the entire meaning of what you are writing. And once a word is used incorrectly in a document, people never forget....and the consequences can be dire. Ask any lawyer when they are writing a contract, will, or brief. There are three things encoded in our DNA. Our capacity to use reason and logic, our ability to walk, and our ability to speak. You were not a born bad speller. It just does not work that way. Simply put, you were never taught language and most certainly not the English language. If you ARE NOT A GREAT SPELLER and you want to be, let me know. I will teach you everything about spelling and the English language from its history, what it originates from, and phonemic awareness. If you are willing to commit, if you are willing to work hard, if you are willing to study, I can teach you to always spell any word in English correctly as the usage demands. I want to teach you so that you will always communicate effectively. In 1839, Edward Bulwer-Lytton in England wrote the following quote. Somehow, this quote came to be attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte, one of history's greatest generals and a prolific writer. "The pen is mightier than the sword." No truer words ever written......

Political Science

I was a public school teacher for over 25 years. I have been doing private teaching for over 10 years. I still hold active credentials issued by the state of California Commission for Teacher Credentialing. I hold credentials in mathematics, English language arts, and the social sciences. Furthermore, I went to the University of Maryland which is right outside of Washington, DC. I graduated cum laude. My major was political science. I am also a member of Phi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society and I am a political scientist. Not only have I been a teacher, I lived in Washington, D.C. for over 35 years. I worked for a political "think tank." Also, I interned for a professor at the Maryland General Assembly for an elected member of that body. The professor that arranged for my internship was Governor of the State of Maryland for three terms. Am I experienced and education in politics? YOU BET!

Social Studies

I am a professional teacher...not a tutor...and hold teaching credentials in mathematics, language arts, and the social sciences. I hold both a bachelor's degree and a graduate degree. I taught in the public school system for over 25 years. I have privately taught for the last six (6) years. Of all of the subject I have had to teach, perhaps the most difficult is social studies. Why? Social studies encompasses history, economics, philosophy, political science, statistics, geography, sociology, and psychology. When I teach social studies, I teach all of it...not just one assignment....so that you will completely understand everything.

ASVAB,

ASVAB

I have been teaching the ASVAB since 2013. I have taught over 125 wonderful young men and women and helped them to succeed to enter the military. There is no mystery why my students always made it on the ASVAB. My students succeeded in fulfilling their destiny because they trusted me. From the very beginning in teaching them, I taught them to take notes LOGICALLY. I taught them to write everything down in detail so if there was an error, it could be recognized and resolved immediately. For many of them, it was the first time in their life that they learned that logic prevails NOT rote memorization. We are not, afterall, computers that only repeat that which has been entered into them. We are human beings and we THINK! And, I know it was a relief to them to find this out. And of course, they excelled. In regards to the ASVAB….Most people are completely unaware of how comprehensive this examination actually is. The ASVAB covers general science, arithmetic reasoning, word problems….now that is always SCARY BUT NO MORE….word knowledge, paragraph comprehension, algebra and probability, geometry, electronics, auto information, shop information, and mechanical comprehension. Therefore, I take this examination very seriously. And I know all of this about the ASVAB because my own son is currently serving in the U.S. Army. Because he scored so high on the ASVAB, he has been promoted quickly and goes to University while he is in the Army. His future is established. And because I am a lot older than you, I have personally witnessed many times when people did not choose the road less traveled, the road that is difficult, the road where you will fall down but you are just going to have to pull yourself up. Because at the end of that road are many roads….and those many roads to choose from represent FREEDOM OF CHOICE IN YOUR LIFE. Let me help you go down that road…the road less traveled!
