About Ellada

My name is Ellada. I am a graduate from University of California, Irvine. I majored in economics and mathematics.I love to teach and help my community as much as I can. Every student deserves the chance to thrive and succeed spectacularly. I worked at the Tutoring Center at Glendale Community College where I tutored economics and all levels of mathematics. I also tutored for two years at a music school. I tutored groups as well as individual students. I tutor all subjects, but my main emphasis is on mathematics, science, economics, and statistics. My students varied from grade school up to college students. I also helped prepare three high school students for their SAT's. Two are currently going to Chapman University.

I am very flexible with my hours. I am however, demanding when it comes to work load. If necessary, I will assign weekly homework problems for students to complete (this is mostly for grade school students). I will commute to either the students house, or meet in a public Starbucks or library which allows study sessions. I am very patient, loving, and passionate about what I do. I have been tutoring for five years now. My students have succeeded and shown stellar progress on their report cards, grades, and scores. My goal is not to make a living off of my students. My goal is to see my students learn, and expand their knowledge, given what they already know. Learning is an amazing process, if it is done correctly. My job is not going to be to provide them with the answers, but to provide them with the tools and concepts needed to derive the answers themselves. If you are interested, please contact me by email or by phone. I am quick to respond and I look forward to helping you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Differential Equations

I have taken three courses at my university in differential equations. I took both ODE and PDE courses. I have studied concepts from Newton's Second Law, to the wave equation. I also studied the wave equation and derived the Black-Scholes equation, which is a very important tool to know in mathematical finance. It helps define puts, calls, and stock prices. To most, differential equations are a form of physics, but for me, they are a concept of life and details to which we don't see, but use on a daily basis.

Prealgebra

As an undergraduate math student at University of California, Irvine, I have proven all the theorems and corollary's from basic addition to analysis. Pre-Algebra is a basic class that will build up to Linear Algebra.

Superb teaching skills — Ellada was concise and thorough when helping my son with Calculus. She picked up on what he was unclear about and was great at explaining the details. She was flexible with changing the location when the first place didn't work out. ...
