About Krystyna

I discovered in middle school that I have a knack for explaining things in a manner that is easy to follow, checking for comprehension along the way. I remember many a night sitting at my kitchen table helping my 5 siblings with their coursework. Now, teaching is my passion and my profession.

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Miami with a 3.9 GPA, completing the pre-med track, majoring in Biology and Theatre Arts, and minoring in Chemistry and Psychology.

I love learning and have a passion for teaching and inspiring others. I was Valedictorian of my high school and received a 1490 on my SAT. I was on track to study medicine at Stanford when I did some some soul searching and realized medicine isn't what I want: a vibrant, creative life devoted to raising children, helping others, and pursuing creative dreams is.

I specialize in ISEE/HSPT and ACT test prep. Specializing allows me to be a master of the content and teaching strategies. I use a variety of resources and create custom plans for my students. Some resources include The Princeton Review, IvyGlobal, Success, and various websites and additional practice material.

Because of my familiarity with the different options out there, I am able to best craft a course of action and utilize multiple resources dependent on my students' needs.

I also work with my family's budgets and goals. We craft a plan of action that works for everyone involved, based off a diagnostic identifying areas of strength and weakness. Some students opt to meet 2-3 times a week for 2 hours, while other family's are on a tighter budget or schedule, and we make it work. Each student is different.

A little about me: I am a self-proclaimed nerd. I grew up reading textbooks for fun and began competing in and winning math competitions at the age of 12. In the 7th grade I scored a 1160 on the SAT. I am continually taking classes and reading books to expand upon my knowledge and skill sets. I am told my enthusiasm and passion for learning are contagious. I have an ability to connect with my students and to break down difficult concepts into easy-to-understand, manageable chunks.

I have tutored test prep for 5 years and have tried and true strategies to help with the difficult pacing of the tests. I have worked with LA Tutors, SouthBay Tutors, and Fortune Tutoring Group, as well as independent clients. In college I taught a freshman Biology Workshop, as well as peer tutoring middle school through college. I've tutored at-home and in classroom settings as well as on private high school campuses.

I'm able to diagnose and teach exactly which concepts have not yet been mastered. My students scores increase dramatically. For students who are already scoring high and seeking to improve to the next level, I can pinpoint why errors are being made and we can correct course.
