About Rick

Before I was a tutor on WyzAnt, I was a TA (Teacher assistant)at a local high school where I helped teach Adobe Flash,Photoshop, and general computing software. After about two years, I started teaching Game Design to students ages 8 and up at ASU (Arizona state University) game design allowing for all my students to create their own games, in 3 weeks or less. I have also earned the Keennling Computer Science Award for advanced computing skills.

I have a great deal of experience in education; teaching a variety of subjects from Elementary School to College. Depending on the specific persons needs I can create a lesson plan to teach a subject, mentor the student as they work, or help complete homework. I am available to tutor via Skype or on location and I am very easy going, so feel free to email me if you have any questions. :)

Thank you for your time!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Flash

Adobe flash is where I started using my art and technical skills together, to make something amazing! Adobe Flash allows the user to draw on frames, and when these frames are put together it makes a short animation. Now, take that animation, mix it with some action script and you have yourself a video game. I am qualified because I have tutored the software before and have taken several courses at school to learn.

Computer Science

I have 2 years of experience in programming and overseeing low level software development. My primary job responsibilities have been design, development, programming, performance tuning, speed optimization and structural analysis of software. I also have skills in electronics and using my knowledge of programming and electronics to make robots.

Dreamweaver

I originally used Dreamweaver for my school's website; However, I later used the Dreamweaver WYSIWYG to build the foundation of my current website. Dreamweaver allowed me to really experiment visually and technically by allowing me to quickly prototype new website ideas without having to worry to much about HTML formatting and so on. I would prove to be a very adequate tutor in this software.

Macintosh

I am qualified to tutor on Macintosh because I have an abundance of experience with it. I have created over 3 IOS games with it and am quite familiar with all the shortcuts and lingo of the os. On top of using it to make my games and such, I used to use a Mac at work 40 hours a week.

Microsoft Outlook

I am highly skilled in Microsoft Outlook.
Microsoft Outlook is a key part of my current career and with over 500 hours using the software for setting up meetings to emails, there isn't a nook and cranny I don't know. I would be very efficient in explaining every button and function throughout the software to the student.

Web Design

I Fully understand the core of WordPress, plugin and theme structure. I have experience in building and maintaining a website, which includes Utilizing the latest security practices and maintaining full confidentiality with client information. Most of my clients need help getting started with WordPress or other content Management Systems (CMS).
