Glendale Community College (Computer science)
Hi! I am currently a senior undergraduate student at California State University Northridge majoring in Electrical Engineering and soon to be enrolling in a credential program to teach high school science! I have been tutoring for 8 years and have had students in every level of math AND science from 4th grade to college.
I'm a fun, easy going guy who loves Math & Science and wants other people to both understand and see the beauty in these subjects. In high school, I maintained a 4.6 GPA, I was in our school's Math Club, and I took AP Calculus AB, BC, Physics, and Biology got 5's in all of them. In college I am majoring in Electrical Engineering, with a 3.9 gpa and the intent of becoming a high school science teacher. I KNOW not only how to do well on tests, but also how to teach these strategies to any student.
I tutored throughout my four years of schooling at Burbank High School in subjects such as Pre-Calculus, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus and even English and Phonics. I am also a certified tutor in the Burbank Public Library System. In my college years, I continued as private tutor for a variety of families in the Los Angeles area in all these subject areas. My students have seen huge strides in not only test scores but in overall comprehension of their trouble subjects and even the dreaded Common Core curriculum.
In my opinion, the most important thing I can do for my students is to be patient. Science and math subjects require time and practice to achieve a deep level of understanding. It also requires SIMPLE explanations of key concepts. I believe that the problem that some teachers have is over complicating things. My teaching approach is easy to understand and clear.
So if you want to learn how to think like someone who get's A's on tests and have the rare ability to be tutored one on one by a very soon to be science teacher, then give me a try. You won't be disappointed! Hi! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken a C++ class at Glendale Community College and received an A. I am a computer science major so I work extensively with code and C++ is one of the languages in which I am most comfortable. I can send transcripts or example code if needed.
I have tutored numerous 5th graders in English and Math as a part of a tutoring program for K-8 at my local public library. I find that the key to a young child understanding is patience and repetition of core concepts. As well as keeping the material fun and engaging by incorporating games and questions.
