~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Education & Credentials ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I graduated with a degree from UCLA with high honors (Dean's Honors List, Magna Cum Laude) in Integrative Biology & Physiology. I also took many classes at UCLA in education, linguistics, history, and English. I had a cumulative GPA of 3.838 with 265.5 completed units at graduation and was a 10-time Dean's Honors List Recipient. I also was a member of the UCLA Regents Scholar Society, the Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Societies, the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Health Honor Society, and Christian Students at UCLA. I worked as a TA for several undergraduate classes at UCLA, including Education 92F and Life Sciences 2-3. I am currently taking graduate- level classes at Stanford University; my career lies in both teaching (including tutoring) and medicine (oncology/anesthesiology).
I have scored at the 98th percentile on the SAT I/II tests and received the highest score of 5 on multiple AP exams (see below for more details) as a high school student, achieving the AP Scholar with Distinction award by the end of my junior year. I have been the recipient of many university merit-based invitational and scholarship honors and awards. Some of the most notable scholarships I have been awarded are the Regents Scholarship from both UCLA and UCSB. Both provided me with a large monetary award, priority enrollment, 4 years of room and board, and many other privileges, honors, and incentives.
The SAT examinations that I have scored at 98th percentile or higher are as follows: SAT I; SAT II - Math 2; and SAT II - Biology (M). I also took many AP exams during high school, achieving the AP Scholar with Distinction award by the end of my junior year. Some of the exams that I have taken include: AP Physics B (Score = 5); AP Chemistry (Score = 5); AP Biology (Score = 5); AP Calculus AB (Score = 5); AP Statistics (Score = 5); AP US Government & Politics (Score = 5). I continuously study and retake the SAT, ACT, and AP Exams to stay on par with both the big and small changes each year to the exams.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Personal Message to You ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

One of the wisest teachers once said that poor grades, study habits, and test scores are not life-threatening, but they are college-, job- , career-, and quality-of-life threatening. The most competitive students take a pro-active approaching to academics and tutoring while the least competitive take a reactive approach. All you need to do is watching the documentary 'Two Million Minutes' by Bob Compton to realize why students in other countries such as India and China surpass American peers in almost every subject, especially language (writing, grammar, etc.), math, science, and engineering-related subjects. They attend extra classes and tutoring from 6-7 AM in the morning to almost midnight.

In today's fast-paced and competitive job market, there is simply too much to lose by not investing now in your child's or your education. If a student is struggling, it makes sense to get him/her the help needed so that the time spent in school is worthwhile. Great grades and test scores can open doors that may have been previously closed and are also significant factors when determining scholarships, so investing time and effort now can pay off substantially in the future. Finally, let's not forget the most important part in all of this: the student. The confidence, knowledge, and skills that a student gains through effective tutoring can last a lifetime.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch. Every day spent waiting is another class or lecture's worth of material that you might potentially fall behind or another low quiz/test/exam score that will only make it harder to recover from. I have had too many students who could have received the grade(s) they wanted had they contacted me from the beginning.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Additional Info ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have lived in and experienced the educational systems in the following cities: Cupertino, CA; Fremont, CA; Hayward, CA; Seattle, WA; and Los Angeles, CA.
Approved subjects are in bold.
Approved subjects
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Biology
I have taught biology at UCLA and am a biology tutor for the Princeton Review. I have tutored hundreds of students in Biology, AP Biology, and SAT II Biology, with some students scoring in the 98th percentile and 5's on the AP/SAT Exams.
I continuously study and retake the Biology SAT & AP Exams to stay on par with both the big and small changes each year to the exams. I I also have tutored Biology for the MCAT, DAT, and OAT exams. I have consistently received strong recommendations from those that I tutor.
All recommendations are available upon request.
Chemistry
I have taught chemistry at UCLA and am a chemistry tutor for the Princeton Review. I have tutored hundreds of students in Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and SAT II Chemistry, with some students scoring in the 97th percentile and 5's on the AP/SAT Exams. I have consistently received strong recommendations from those that I tutor.
ISEE
I have tutored students on the ISEE at the upper, middle, and lower levels. My tutoring involves a comprehensive approach to all four sections of the ISEE: verbal reasoning; math (quantitative reasoning and mathematics achievement); reading comprehension; and the essay. Similar to other tests, I go over the content, question types, and strategy for each section. I have achieved superior results with students willing to apply themselves fully to the program.
MCAT
I am extremely well-versed with the MCAT exam content and the MCAT science subject areas of biology, chemistry, and organic chemistry. My preparation consist of a comprehensive review of all topics, and the provision of practice exams and other study materials for time not spent in session. In fact, I was also the workshop leader for medical school and MCAT preparation at the UCLA Career Center for about a year.
Organic Chemistry
Short Version:
Organic chemistry is one of my strongest subjects. I have tutored many students in this subject who came to me preparing for the OAT/DAT/MCAT exam.
Long Version:
Organic chemistry is one of my strongest subjects. I have tutored many students in this subject who came to me preparing for the OAT/DAT/MCAT exam. I have also tutored students who were having trouble in their organic chemistry class at their university/community college. I ranked as one of the top 15% of my class in Organic Chemistry at UCLA with Dr. Steven H., receiving a final grade of an A (4.0) in the class. Moreover, I received and A+ in Chem14A, a general chemistry class heavily based on molecular structure, at UCLA with Dr. Lawrence L. (ranked top 2% of the class).
Piano
I have over 20 years of piano and music education & experience and have formally passed examinations for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). I have trained under renowned piano instructors who have trained in and taught at world-famous music institutions such as the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in Shanghai, China.
I have passed one of the ABRSM grade examinations with distinction and was invited to play a piece at Chabot College in Hayward, CA at the annual California ABRSM recital. I have many years of experience performing on-stage in front of audiences in semi-formal settings.
I specialize in teaching piano (all levels - from beginner to advanced) to children, teens, and adults. I have taught children as young as 5 years old.
In addition to the piano, I also play the flute, clarinet, and piccolo. I have played in orchestras and participated in concert and marching bands.
Study Skills
At UCLA, I had to opportunity to take a specialized course offered by the Education Department (Education 92F) which focuses specifically on study skills and the research behind different internal and external factors that influence undergraduates to succeed in their courses and college in general. Moreover, while tutoring high school and middle school students in math and science subjects, it is very seldom that I do not also teach the study skills necessary to do well on future homework and tests. Lastly, I myself, having graduated UCLA with high honors, have developed a very good foundation in my own study skills and many of my mentees at UCLA in various organizations that I am a part of have thought my sharing of these skills was extremely helpful.
