In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and have 21 years' experience in solving algebraic equations as part of my daily duties during that time. I was also responsible for verifying the geometric configuration of the space shuttle tiles. All of the tiles were submitted to me using algebraic expressions for planes and surfaces.
I have a through knowledge of basic math concepts and have had the opportunity to explain these concepts to persons of all ages. My knowledge of more advanced math concepts helps me guide students in the early years.
It is extremely important to have a strong understanding of basic math concepts as they provide the basis for understanding and learning more complex mathematical theory. I use flash cards, as aids allow the student to understand these basic concepts.
Part of my duties as a mechanical engineer serving the Space Shuttle Program at Lockheed was to verify the insulation tile geometry to assure compliance with referenced standards.
