san jose state (EdD)
I just retired as a high school science teacher specializing in physics and engineering.
I get a kick out of solving problems and teaching students how to solve them on their own. Its simply a process that you follow to convert what you are given about a situation into what you need to find out. Simple. I've taught all levels of Physics students from CP, Honors and AP Physics including the new AP1 program.
Prior to teaching I had a very exciting career as VP of engineering in the Bay Area where I managed over 250 engineers in developing the world''s leading instrumentation for semiconductor metrology. As such, I have an extensive background in all aspects of engineering and have taught Systems Engineering at San Jose State at the Masters Level. I also have 19 patents in the field.
I am married and my wife is also a science teacher at a private prep school in Orange Co. We have two children in their late 20s. My daughter is finishing a PhD in microbiology in Michigan and my son is an applications engineer for a "high tech" company in the Bay Area.
I have taught Physics at all levels in high school for the past 9 years and have a good feel what it takes to be successful in the AP exams and where students get tripped up my mis -conceptions that makes Physics hard for them.
I have three academic degrees in Physics including a First Class BSc, MSc and Phd from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.
Managed robotics team at Junior and High levels. Managed numerous multi-disciplinary projects where SW represented about 50% of the engineering content.
Taken online MOOCs from Edversity and google UDacity on Java. Currently taking course on Android Studio to create apps for the Android cell phones
My schedule is pretty open. Please feel free to call to arrange a time that work for both of us. I just retired as a high school science teacher specializing in physics and engineering.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
