I am confident that with my assistance, students can find and be their best selves. My dedication is to ensuring my students "get it" and not just by the sharing of knowledge to get there, but motivation, memory and other similar skills that my many years of experience have taught me are effective. Everyone needs help understanding concepts and theories from time to time. Sometimes just having another person like me explain it differently, and in understandable language can make it all click for the student.

I tutor students, individually or in groups in my tutoring office near the Brea Mall in Brea, or in any other mutually agreed convenient location, including your school's library or campus, with sufficient advance notice.

I was a college History major which instilled in me, my collegiate love of research and writing. I have been an attorney for years now, which is one of the few professions in today's world that depend wholly on the written word and demand complete attention to detail. I have excelled in reading, writing, and proofreading. I have previously taught law school courses including legal research and appellate brief writing, and can effectively teach you those skills too. These are relevant and necessary in most every aspect of today's education and business environment, not just the legal or paralegal fields.

I have been an actively practicing attorney for many years, all the while mentoring law students and interns and high school students in their own early exposures to the legal field. I now indulge my love of teaching, by coaching high school Mock Trial--an intense, high pressure course, (every year that runs several months), in litigation skills and case studies and presentation. (Mock Trial is one form of legal debate and encompasses valuable public speaking skills applicable to virtually any profession too.) I am proud to say my fellow attorney coaches and I have led our team of 25 students to the county wide playoffs several years in a row, and in an organized pre-competition event involving more than 20 schools, have taken the #1 place trophy 2 years in a row. Usually the cases are criminal but my vast working experience in civil law allows me to provide you tutoring in a wide variety of legal subjects in addition to the emphasis on English (reading, writing, proofreading and public speaking) that I also offer.

I am available most weekdays, and some weekends or evenings with just a few days notice. I encourage you to give me a call and let me help you reach your educational goals.

I am a skilled and experienced civil attorney in private practice, and am an active legal writer. (The law is one of the few remaining professions where flawless writing, and attention to detail is a requirement.) I am a volunteer temporary judge, an arbitrator and I tutor not only in substantive areas of the law, but also in legal writing skills, reading and proofreading as well as public speaking through litigation performance coaching--I have been a passionate Mock Trial coach of more than 25 high school students every Fall for many years now. Our team has gone to the countywide playoffs regularly, and has excelled in pre-competition tournaments--taking 1st place twice in the last three years. Let me help you make a grand impression when you present your legal work!

Public Speaking

As an attorney litigator, and volunteer temporary judge and arbitrator, I speak in public all the time. For several years now I have coached a high school Mock Trial team of 25 students for approximately 3 months each year to a competition that ends in December. I have been awarded Attorney Coach of the Year (with 4 others on our team) in 2014, and our team has taken 1st place 2 years in a row in a pre-competition scrimmage involving over 20 other schools. I know how to teach students to speak in public. Mock Trial is not just about case study and preparation, but delivering a trial orally, which includes delivering opening statements, closing statements and pre-trial motions, not just questioning witnesses and learning objections. Skills taught include preparation, memorization, recall, diplomacy and self confidence all of which aid in the art of public speaking.

Proofreading,

Proofreading

In recent times, the art and skill of quality writing has been lost as a result of short hand communications via texting and email. Yet having proper writing skills in today's educational and business environment, is still crucial. Your writing reflects on who you are and who you are perceived to be by the outside world! Sometimes great ideas are shared by the written word, but because those written words are misspelled, mis-punctuated, or presented with incorrect style or grammar, the strength of one's point is greatly diluted or disregarded entirely. As a civil litigation attorney for many years, and writing all the time--briefs, letters, motions, pleadings, memos and yes, even emails and texts--I can help you with proofreading to improve your written presentations!

Bar Exam

For almost 30 years now I have been a practicing attorney, well versed in the legal requirements in the state of California. I was admitted to the Bar (taking the bar exam myself and passing on the first attempt.) I have remained in an active practice and have taught and trained many staff, and new attorneys. I have continued to teach and tutor college and law students preparing for the bar and related exams and believe I am qualified to add "bar exam" to my list of qualified subjects.

Fantastic Tutor - 5 Stars!

I can’t speak highly enough of my experience with Lisa. I came to her frustrated after trying couple of other tutors with no hope that I could understand the concept of business law. I haven’t taken any law classes before, besides English is not my first language, yet Lisa did a tremendous job on helping me how to understand the law cases, analyze them and address them properly. There were times when I felt totally lost, but she would amazingly direct me on how to think and deal with all the information I have. I highly recommend Lisa to anyone who seeks understanding and help in law field.

Great tutor!

Lisa was very easy to work with, very professional and knowledgable. After reviewing and revising my own paper for the 10th time (yeh, that many times), I pretty much felt brain dead and need help. Lisa reviewed my paper, provided her recommdations. After working with her, I felt very confident and comfortable submitting my papers. I will definitely recommend her service to anyone who needs professional writing assistance.
