Hello! My name is Nicky and I have been an elementary teacher for 10 years. I absolutely love my job and feel that teaching is one of the most important things I will do in my life. I am dedicated to the success of every student in my class, both academically as well as socially and emotionally.
During my time as a teacher, I have been privileged to be invited to be a master teacher, a teacher trainer and mentor, a curriculum writer, and a panel consultant.
I am a life-long learner and, as such, have continued to further my education by earning a master teacher certification from San Diego State University and a GATE certificate from the University of California San Diego. I also have a BA in Liberal Studies and a Master's Degree in Multicultural Education. Additionally, I hold a GLAD and ELL certificate.
I have provided professional development training to teachers in multiple school districts. I have also been invited to present at an elementary math conference on more than one occasion.
Students in my class achieve academically as evidenced by my California State Assessment (CAASPP) scores that were 30% higher than the state average. My students also gain self-confidence, autonomy, and a growth mindset. They learn to value and, participate in, their own learning which makes them genuinely enjoy being at school.
