Hello, I like tutoring and teaching because I know I am making a difference. I like the challenge of getting a student to be on task and interested. Also, to feel good about what they are learning and doing. My experience is that there is structure and expectation in school/education. Then, there is learning where you are at and figuring out how to maximize on your strengths and improve in areas or study habits that are challenging.
Supporting students in a structured and consistent way helps them over time to achieve both long term and short term goals. I like to feel trusted and to see children grow and achieve their dreams. Long term goals of college being with good study habits now. It's important to address any concerns early on so your goals are achieved. I like to use different modalities to help students and to meet their needs.
I have experience helping elementary students grades K-6 with their fluency and vocabulary. I also am good at breaking down comprehension into strategies that they are already familiar with and practicing those strategies until retaining them becomes second nature.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
