About Richard

I worked my way through college by tutoring college students in several subjects at the University of Miami, including the football team, which was paid for by the University.

I was also an Adjunct Professor in Securities Regulation for five years for the University of Miami teaching senior and graduate law students.

I am a writer, poet and song writer, not to mention a linguist of the highest order. I know English grammar intimately. I have a broad knowledge of literature. I have given hundreds of speeches, including being a political candidate for a major public office, and have appeared on hundreds of radio and television programs, including 22 television programs I produced.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Accounting

I have a B.A. degree in accounting from the University of Miami. I have a Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown Law Center. I have been a securities, corporate and tax attorney for many years, but I am now retired. I have dealt with financial statements and accounting matters for decades.

American History

I have studied American history in college. I have been a voracious reader of history books over my lifetime.

Economics

I studied economics in college and have an extensive knowledge of the subject from reading and experience in the financial industry.

English

I am a semi-retired attorney and professional writer. I am an expert in English and know media as an actor, singer, music producer, and TV producer.

Film

I am a member of SAG-AFTRA. I have been a featured player in two feature films, e.g., "Lenny" and one TV series, e.g., Caribe. I was involved for several years in the worldwide distribution of films-Allied Artists.
I have been a student of films my entire life, watching them and reading a library of books about them.

Football

For two years played high school varsity football as an end/wide-out. In my junior year the team was undefeated. I know the game and its rules from a lifetime of being a fan and going to college and NFL football games.

Government & Politics

I have a B.A. in Government and have been involved in the study of the subject all my life. I have also been involved directly in the political arena.

Grammar

I am a retired attorney who has also been a newspaper columnist, lyricist, and published poet.
As such, I am fully qualified to tutor reading and writing.

I am the founder, President, and CEO of a music corporation since 1996. I have been the executive producer of three music albums which are sold worldwide on the Internet through The Orchard.com.
My company is a member of BMI and NARAS/The Recording Academy. I am also a singer who has performed in front of audiences as large as 85,000 people. I have been the executive producer of a one-half hour TV show featuring professional entertainers.

Philosophy

I had a minor in Philosophy and took science courses in college. I have studied Philosophy my whole life.

Political Science

I have a B.A. in Government (Political Science) from the University of Miami.I have been a practicing attorney for over 50 years. I have been a candidate for the office of State Attorney in Miami-Dade County, Florida, albeit unsuccessfully. I have led five successful petition campaigns fighting sales taxes in Miami-Dade County, Florida, and in the State of Florida. I have appeared as a witness before the U.S. House of Representatives and the SEC when i was involved in helping to reform the securities industry. I have appeared as a speaker in person, on radio and on TV hundreds of times to discuss public issues.

Proofreading

I am a professional proofreader. For decades I have been a securities lawyer. That requires intense proofreading. As a law student, I proofread a major legal treatise written by my law professor and published by Matthew Bender & Co.

Psychology

I am not a psychologist, but a student of human nature. As an attorney for decades I have had to assess the psychology of people for trials and otherwise.

Public Speaking

I have a BA, JD and an LL.M. in Taxation. I ran and won a student government office in college. I was a candidate for State Attorney in Miami, Florida. I have led numerous petition drives and opposition to proposed sales taxes, in connection with which I gave scores of speeches. I have appeared on hundreds of radio and TV programs as a guest. I was the host of 22 TV programs broadcast in Southern California, which I produced.
As a singer of the National Anthem on 35 occasions, I have appeared before over 500,000 persons at NFL, NHL, NBA, and other sporting and special events.

I am a recording artist with three music albums being sold worldwide on the Internet through my distributor. I have sung the National Anthem at 35 special events in front of at least 500,000 people at NFL, NHL and NBA games and other places. I have performed in nightclubs, and on TV many times and as a guest performer at many charity events. I understand the voice and can help a serious student develop that instrument. I do not play the piano.

World History

I was a straight A history student in college. I have studied world history all my life and have traveled the world learning about the history of other countries.
