Currently finishing up on my PhD at UCLA in plasma physics, I love being able to give back some of my knowledge by helping out students with math/physics coursework. I have tutored throughout my undergraduate and graduate education, and have been a TA for introductory undergraduate physics courses. I understand that many become discouraged from continuing in physics/math because they are disillusioned with the coursework, so I work on approaching problems from different methods in order to find which way works best for the student. I'm very patient, and don't mind working a problem several times in order to make sure the student comprehends everything that is going on.
You'll find that I'm pretty easy-going and flexible with timing. I spend most of my time in lab at UCLA, so I can either meet at one of the local coffee shops in Westwood, or my private office in lab. I am also able drive to locations, but I would only ask that the timing not be around rush-hour in LA.
Before our meeting I'd also like it if you could message me what specific area of math/physics you need help with. I like to brush up on topics beforehand so I can be the most prepared and efficient with our time.
Any other questions feel free to ask!

We did a cursory review of all the information that will be covered on an upcoming test. This helped to identify the areas I was weak, and in need of further explanation regarding the concepts. Giovanni is excellent at breaking it down, and making the material relatable in a way that I could better understand it.
My son went to a disadvantaged local high school where both his physics and calculus teachers were let go for ineffectiveness. The leap to UCLA has been overwhelming. My son had an advanced calculus final at UCLA and Giovanni literally saved the day. He is a tutor that ensures the student understands the concepts and applications. Although last year he would have been out of our price range, had we known about Giovanni sooner he clearly would have saved us thousands of dollars for dropped and repeated classes. Lesson learned: he's worth every penny!
Thank you Giovanni. It was a great first session and you were able to jump right in, explain the material and make it a very productive review!
My daughter is working on word problems and isolating the variable to one side of an algebraic equation. Giovanni is very patient and is great at helping her work through the problems.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
