I try to teach in a way that is both fun and exciting to the student. The ultimate reward for me is when a student overcomes a challenge and finally understands a difficult concept. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have played basketball regularly since I was about 4 years old. As a sophomore in high school, I played for my school's "B" team. In college, I played on a number of intramural teams. After college, I played in a league with several former college and professional players. I am confident that I can help you improve your game!
I earned a bachelor's degree at U.C. Berkeley with a 3.63 GPA. While at Berkeley, I worked as a teacher's assistant one semester for middle school students. In the classroom, I would help students who did not understand the schoolwork. In college I also tutored elementary school students in a program called Berkeley Youth Alternatives. Additionally, I tutored inner city students through the Global Education Program. Finally, I have tutored students of all ages as private tutor, mainly in the subjects of English and history, but also in math up to algebra.
