Hello everyone, my name is Jiawei and I am from China. I have graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry at University of Miami and a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering at University of California, Berkeley. I also have a double minor in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics during my undergraduate study. During my study as a college student, I had a very deep understanding of my peers that they had a lot of issues dealing with math and science problems, especially calculus, physics, and chemistry, even though I found myself much easier to pick them up. Therefore, I started the idea of helping my friends from same classes to get them better, where I started building my tutoring experience. I have found myself during my tutoring that I love my job because I love to help people when they need and I would love to devote 120% of myself to get them better, from preparation of the materials to the actual tutoring section to the Q&As outside the tutoring section. I usually bring my own understanding added to the methodologies covered from either the textbook or professor's notes, using a more realistic approach to help students understand the concepts much easier. I would also bring up different examples using same conceptual approaches to help students apply concepts to different problems. I will also give enough time to let them practice on their own to make sure that they fully understand the concept. Finally, I will bring review to the concepts that I covered from last section before introducing new concepts during each section. My tutoring section will me much fun and interactive. I love working with students and I will try to understand each students' need and problem so that I can make my teaching plan to each students to get them better at maximum. I am also willing to help outside the tutoring section anytime as students need.

I usually helped several of my friends who need my help from my same Calculus class for one year during my freshman year in college. I typically utilized a graphical approach by combining the graph to a function to explain how to use the function and how to solve for algebraic problems. I also focused on a lot of practices to certain rules for solving problems like derivatives and integration because practice makes perfect, but I helped them step-by-step to solve several problems before they went on their own. I will not let students do extensive problems, but I will provide as many different types of problems as possible to maximize the effort.

I have three years in one-on-one peer tutoring General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry to a friend of mine. Since chemistry is very abstract and hard to understand, I normally brought a more realistic approach by understanding the physical meaning behind a theory or an equation. I also brought various examples created by myself to show how to apply the same methodology in different problems and provided chances for my friend to solve by herself and discuss. She enjoyed such an interactive approach and her grade got bumped from C to A-. Same approach was applied to solving physics problems as well during my short time helping my friends in physics. I don't tutor biology, unfortunately. Therefore, I am willing to help anyone who needs help in chemistry and physics.

I want to benefit the students as much as possible, not only by just getting better grade, but also by learning concepts that they may potentially use in the future. I am very easy to reach out and I will respond very fast. Feel free to contact me if you need to schedule a lesson in math, chemistry, and physics or if you have additional questions.

Calculus,

Calculus

I had 1 year experience as a peer tutor in calculus I & II, during my college career where I have obtained a cumulative grade of A on my math minor, to my friend from the same class when I found my friend struggling to calculus problems. I normally teach how to use substitutions to solve for complex derivatives and integrations and how to combine graphs to understand limits and other calculus problems. I believe these two major methods are very easy to understand and will provide much clearer methods to solve most of the calculus problems.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

I have a Chemical Engineering Master's degree at UC Berkeley and a Chemistry degree at University of Miami. I have 2 years of experience tutoring college level General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry and one semester as an undergraduate teaching assistant for General Chemistry class.
Physics,

Physics

I used to help my friends on the physics homework problems in my same physics class when they had problems. I typically tried to let my friends understand the physical meaning behind each problems before applying equations. I believe if students can understand the physical meaning on why certain equations are used, they can solve the problems much more easily.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I have a graduated with double minor in Mechanical Engineering and Math along with my Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. I love using math and calculus to solve for engineering problems and I think they are very useful. I usually helped my friends in precalculus and calculus homework problems when I was an undergraduate student.
