I am originally from Colombia where I was born and raised for 10 years before moving to the United States. My life has allowed me to undergo a great journey and my experiences have taken me through several countries. My time in Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua have allowed me to see firsthand the different components that make up these societies. Consequently, aiding me in fostering an ever-growing curiosity to discover the political and economic systems that exist in the modern world. I am currently a student of political economy and history at Cal. I am dedicated in mastering these academic disciplines to later apply it in my local community. Subsequently I want to get involved in a career dealing with business or law. My main focus is to help my peers and surrounding community in any way possible and this is one step forward!
What makes me qualified? Two years of experience as a supplemental instructor. As a supplemental instructor for History, English, Public Speaking, and Reading I was required to provide a professional work ethic and a welcoming environment. This job entailed a main clear objective: to facilitate in the learning process of students in order to aid them in their academic goals. I attended classes and hosted sessions outside the class meeting times; these sessions focused on material that was essential to the class and anything students wished to cover. Supplemental Instruction is designed and geared for students to expand their skills and adopt proficient studying methods. My experience in this program sharpened my skills as a tutor, writer, facilitator, and public speaker. I am and always will be devoted for the growth and progression of students, my job as an S.I. taught me about such passion.

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students.
