Bio

Hello there, my name is Angel and I'm currently a Senior in physics at UC Berkeley. I'm bilingual and my native language is Spanish. I've been tutoring since I realized that the best way of learning is when you ask questions to yourself and try the best to answer them--no matter how inaccurate your answers might sound to you! Now, professionally speaking I've been tutoring for about 5 years either privately, through school programs, or for a whole school district from elementary school, middle school, high school, to community college and lower division physics and math subjects at a University level.
In regards to tutoring, I find imagination and creativity been the most important approaches to set up an underlying scheme to approach and visualize the problem in question. From there, the language through which keep track of your thoughts and expand from them is at basic level algebra, so I put too much emphasis in continuously checking the accuracy of your algebra. Everything that follows from there is pure arithmetic. And we have good calculators for that so it should't be a problem. Just make sure you have enough batteries!

One thing is for sure when your career is physics, logical statements are everywhere. Another favorable thing is that my native language is Spanish and that combined with a good sense of logic and a lot of tutoring experience allow me to communicate effectively with the student without any ambiguity.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra is the language foundation of every exact science, but of curse it becomes more complex in subjects like chemistry, physics, and math itself as the academic level increases. It turns out I have a lot of experience in all those subjects because physics is present in all of them.

Calculus,

Calculus

I have tutored all calculus series at the MESA center at Ventura College for about 2 years. I tutored college students that struggled to either understand the graphical meaning of the mathematical expressions or the mathematical reasoning of every method behind any problem being solved. I have taken all calculus series at a college level and got A's in all of them. I emphasize a lot the connection between a mathematical expression and its graphical representation because calculus can only be understood entirely when both of these aspects are mastered.
Physics,

Physics

I've tutored calculus-based physics (including mechanics, electricity and electromagnetism, optics, heat, and modern physics) for about two years. I regularly tutored sophomore college students that were struggling with the understanding of the main concepts underlying a problem. I personally learned that, in order to achieve a great understanding of the physical concepts surrounding a problem, you need to play with the math tools that you have under your control and arrange them using your common physical sense. That common physical sense, everyone has it, but it needs to be addressed by a mentor who has passed through the process by himself.

Patient, excellent tutor for multivariable calculus

Angel is an excellent tutor for multivariable calculus (Math 53). He came fully prepared to our session. He explained everything logically and patiently. Would definitely recommend.

Heather, 1 lesson with Angel

Very Good Tutor

Angel is very knowledgeable and patient, but more importantly, he stays focused on the problem at hand and is able to clearly explain the subject matter. Very helpful!
