About Nicholas

When I was in high school, I realized that I really love to teach. Simply passing on knowledge to another peer feels absolutely amazing because it shows that you really know the information. I am hoping that I will be able to get you to that point after helping you learn the material. I graduated as the valedictorian of my high school and received admissions to many prestigious schools around the country, but due to financial reasons I decided to attend a school where I could support myself. From this, I have mastered the art of time management and still spend a huge chunk of my spare time tutoring other students ranging from high school all the way up to my fellow collegiate peers.

I have over 500 hours of tutoring and teaching experience, and am comfortable with Math, Physics, Chemistry, Writing, English, French, ACT, and SAT. My only policy is that you do not simply ask me for the answer, but rather help me help you through questions. A big part of your college career is that you find yourself not being able to ask the right questions to guide you to the answer, and I want to be here to help you learn that skill. I will help walk you through all the steps of the problem and clarify the theory along the way so that you can gain mastery of the material. However, if you are simply asking for someone who will give you a quick answer without a thorough explanation, please seek another tutor. It is for this reason that I never want to bill a student or parent that is not satisfied with my tutoring.

I have a 48-hour cancellation policy, but often times will be flexible enough to reschedule right away.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you master the topics you are studying!

I can tutor ACT Math, ACT English, ACT Reading, ACT Writing, ACT Science, SAT Math, SAT Writing, Algebra 2, Algebra 1, Statistics, AP Statistics, AP Physics, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus BC/AB, Introduction to College Calculus, Probability, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Biophysical Chemistry, Introduction to College Physics, and Introduction to College Chemistry.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I have been tutoring high school students in ACT for over 4 years now, and have helped countless students raise their scores by at least 3 points. I also taught my own class of high school students ACT through People's Test Preparation Services in college.

ACT Math

I have been tutoring high school students in ACT for over 4 years now, and have helped countless students raise their scores by at least 3 points. I also taught my own class of high school students ACT through People's Test Preparation Services in college.

Calculus

I took AP Calculus BC in high school and received a 5 on the exam. I continued on to take the most difficult introductory Calculus classes in college at UC Berkeley. I have also spent 4 years tutoring Calculus through my volunteer organization, PEACE tutoring, as well as through my Student Learning Center in college as a Math Peer Tutor.

Chemistry

I love Chemistry, taking AP Chemistry in high school. I went on to take many Chemistry courses in college, taking almost enough chemistry courses (upper and lower division) to qualify for the Chemistry Minor. I have been tutoring and teaching chemistry for the last 4 years, and it was the first subject that I truly found myself passionate about teaching. I have tutored Chemistry for my college's Student Learning Center as a Chemistry Peer Tutor as well as for my volunteer organization, PEACE tutoring.

French

I started learning French in first grade and am now a French major in College. Speaking French for more than 14 years, I have a high proficiency in French. I have an authentic Parisian accent (from studying abroad in Paris) with slight Swiss nuances (from my Elementary School teacher as a child). From French grammar and translation to Medieval Literature, I feel confident and eager to help you.

Organic Chemistry

I have completed the Chemistry 3A-3B series with their corresponding labs from UC Berkeley. Also, I continue to tutor and teach those subjects through the Athletic Study Center at UC Berkeley to many students. To further my knowledge, I have also taken 2 higher level biochemistry courses to complement my knowledge of organic chemistry.

Physics

I took AP Physics B when I was in high school and have also completed both introductory physics courses at UC Berkeley. With 50+ hours of physics tutoring experience, I am confident that I can help you understand different concepts and how to look at different problems.

Proofreading

I have over 7 years of proofreading experience. I love grammar and writing and have taken a range of humanities classes requiring a strong understanding of grammar and the art of writing. I have helped students with AP English Language, AP English Literature, College Admissions & Scholarships, as well as college level papers through my experience with the Student Learning Center as a Writing Peer Tutor.

Public Speaking

I have taken a Public Speaking class in high school and have gone on to really develop my Public Speaking skills through my various leadership positions in organizations on my college campus, including People's Test Preparation Services, UC Berkeley's Pre-Medical Honor Society, PEACE Tutoring, and American Diabetes Association at Berkeley. I have a large amount of experience also giving talks and lectures through my organizations on topics from pitching ideas, getting into college, medical school admissions process, etc. Teaching has also helped me develop strong public speaking skills, so I feel confident to give you both the small logistical tricks as well as the general art of practicing to help you develop strong public speaking skills.

Study Skills

I am a peer tutor for the Athletic Study Center at UC Berkeley. Part of my job is to not only tutor college students in the material for their class, but to also teach them how to develop study skills so they can be proficient on their own. As a triple major in Public Health, Molecular Cell Biology, and French with a minor in Toxicology, I have developed many different ways to teach, understand, and acquire study skills for many different fields ranging from the humanities to the sciences.

Writing

I have over 7 years of proofreading and writing experience. I am especially proficient in Comparative Literature and Linguistics, writing countless papers in both French and English.
