About Yvonne

I have had the privilege to serve a diverse population of students. My students attend elementary to graduate school, along with professional students needing advanced training in MS Office products. Some students have special learning needs, others are making up for a previously less than ideal academic experience that has hampered their education, while other students are academically competitive and developing their career as an athlete or performer.

With such a broad range of students, I try to keep my schedule flexible for in-person lessons, and online lessons which have been life-savers for last minute emergencies. I also have flexible office hours to discuss anything such as setting a game plan for a “perfect storm” week full of school exams, performances/athletic tournaments, topped with standardized test(s) (yes, this has happened and you can get through it successfully).

Although I specialize in tutoring a broad range of mathematics subjects such as Algebra, Geometry, PreCalculus, Calculus and Statistics, I also offer you my academic coaching services to help keep you on top of deadlines, and more importantly, to help you turn down the heat when your stress seems to be boiling over. Standardized test preparation includes GED, GRE, SAT, ACT, or TEAS, to name a few. If you are a junior or senior in high school, I will help you research colleges and navigate their admissions system.

For professional MS Excel training, we will cover topics in Elementary Algebra, Linear Algebra, Statistics, and Propositional Logic as needed and appropriate for your needs. We will apply math and logic to create beautiful formulas in Excel and understand how to best convey that information with graphs and tables.

Contact me and I will make time to closely listen to your needs and concerns so that we can develop a plan for success.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Career Development

As a former Recruiter and Human Resources Specialist, I understand the importance of presenting yourself creatively in a resume and interview. I had many days were I had to sift through hundreds of resumes in order to select a handful for contact. Consequently, I interviewed several employees in one day.

So if you need some guidance in presenting yourself amongst today's massive and modern job market, or you simply don't have the time to build creative and competitive resumes for yourself, contact me and I will happily help you at every step of the way.

The first step is identifying why you want to go to college and then establishing a set of goals. This will dictate what steps you need to take in your personal, work, and academic life to ensure you get the most out of your college investment.

Contact me today and I will make sure you don't miss out on any important opportunities and fail to submit all your documentation properly. Happy studying!

Discrete Math

Discrete Mathematics has been the most beneficial math course I have taken. I won't say that I learned to see math in a new way because it teaches you to see math and numbers in so many ways-from a theoretical to a computational perspective. I was fortunate to have a professor that motivated me to work on application problems in addition to the class work. This gave me the opportunity to discuss some basic applications that illustrated the course goals. Throughout the entire semester I diligently took notes and tried to help my classmates see the relationships that some of the problems required. Because I had so many requests for help from my classmates I began posting a few proofs and solutions to my problems on my Discrete Math blog page. I still have a few more proofs to put up and some commentary on others. Nevertheless, it is a work in progress. I believe that I have the knowledge and enthusiasm to help others not only learn how to solve Discrete Math problems, but enjoy the course as well. I didn't get to cover all the chapters in the book, but I covered the most essential chapters such as those that help you write proofs, count, add, divide, and solve graph theory problems. I will continue to study this book very diligently because I realize it has helped my analytical skills.
