CSUEASTBAy (BA Studio Arts)
As a tutor, I love to work with students learning styles and help them grow in knowledge.
I have many years experience as a tutor and educator. I was an after school tutor for two years before going on to three years as a public school para educator in special education. I also worked at an adult day center for four years, leading art groups and making presentations on a variety of subjects. All of this experience has helped me to grow as an instructor and tutor, always aware of and patient with different learning styles and abilities.
As an individual who grew up in a family deeply connected with our local French speaking community, French language and culture has always been an important part of my life. I studied French throughout school and college, from which I graduated Summa cum laude, and spent several years helping to care for children in French speaking families. I have had the opportunity to travel to France four times. All of this has rendered me well trained in and quite comfortable in French. I love grammar as well as everyday conversation.
I have had a lifelong interest in art. After studying pictorial arts at CSU East Bay, I completed my studies with a solo exhibition in 2008. I studied art theory as well as art history, at which I excelled, to which my Summa cum laude standing can attest.
I look forward to meeting new clients and invite you to schedule an appointment! As a tutor, I love to work with students learning styles and help them grow in knowledge.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My educational background, training and professional experience has given me great skill as a drawing tutor. My bachelor's degree is in studio arts with a pictorial emphasis. I studied and practiced drawing technique in a variety of media and methods and had a solo exhibit showcasing many of my drawings. As an activity leader in adult day services, I facilitated many art groups. I have skill and training rendering me a suitable drawing tutor for all ages and levels.
My education and experience in painting qualify me as a tutor for basic painting technique as well as specialization in watercolor and oils. I received my Bachelors of Arts in studio arts with an emphasis in pictorial arts. I studied many painting methods, including the old masters style in oil painting. My solo exhibition at the end of my studies focused on oil paintings in a style influenced by expressionism and surrealism. In recent years I have focused on realism and honed my skill in watercolor. I facilitated a weekly watercolor group for participants with dementia for four years; work I greatly enjoyed.
