Hi, I'm German! I recently graduated from M.I.T. with degrees in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science. Many compare the process of learning at M.I.T. to drinking from a firehose. I agree. The institute provides countless opportunities to learn both in class and through research; however, I found that I learn best when I attend student-led office hours. On occasion, students find themselves far too intimidated by their professors and teachers, which is why the best way to fortify covered topics is to hear them come from another student.
I have two years of experience tutoring at my high school. I volunteered in the Writing Center where I provided guidance and constructive criticism on several English assignments. Throughout my senior year of high school, I became one of the first tutors in the newly-founded Math Center. Similar to the Writing Center, students would bring their math homework or math-related questions and I would spend time clarifying the topic. The subjects I covered ranged from Geometry to AP Calculus.
In regard to standardized test scores, I received a 35 on the math portion of the ACT. In addition, I received perfect scores on the Math 2 and Physics SAT subject tests. In regard to AP tests, I received 4/5's on 13 different exams including Calculus BC, Physics C Mechanics, and Physics C E/M.
All in all, the opportunity to aid students in comprehending difficult topics is a gift in itself. I want to improve my teaching abilities as much as possible, so I welcome feedback from any tutees. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
