About Gary

I am the son of a career Math and Algebra High School Teacher and football and wrestling Coach. I taught a few classes for Cerro Coso Junior College at the Lake Isabella Branch on accounting subjects, and economics. I enjoyed the experience and would have done more teaching if my business activity in Bakersfield had allowed the time to do so.

I retired my California CPA License on December 31, 2009, along with my Nevada Insurance Producer License at December 31, 2012, and My Registered Investment Advisor license at December 31, 2009. I have also held S.E.C. Licenses in the 1980s, series 7, 39, and 24 during my brief career as a securities representative and principal for a securities brokerage. I really enjoyed being a salesman and I loved the high compensation that went with the work, but I really missed the client relationships I developed with my accounting clients. Helping a client run and build their business was a lot of fun, and I developed a number of good friends over the years I was in that business, which has been the majority of my career.

I have two Sons, Zane and Blake, that are now grown up and on their own. I had the pleasure of Home Schooling Zane for three years, and Blake for six years. We did most of the school work on the computer, and the rest with text books. The computer programs were terrific because they have built in quizzes every three or four pages and it helps make certain you understand the educational material as you read it. I felt both of my sons received a superior education at home studying at their own pace. They developed a lot of self confidence and learned how to study on their own. It has really helped them develop their careers, as you never quit learning if you want to develop your job skills. Now that I am retired I think I will enjoy doing what I can to help students understand their study materials and develop their skills. I am looking forward to being a private Tutor, and I hope I am great at it.

I was an electrical engineering major in college until my senior year at UNR. I decided to change my career to the business school and I chose to major in accounting as preparation for a career as a CPA, Certified Public Accountant. I had a number of math classes while studying to be an engineer. A number of business math classes to receive my degree in accounting.

I took a number of accounting, auditing, business law, marketing, statistics, banking, and finance classes under my belt. After I earned my accounting degree, every year I took a minimum of forty (40) class hours on specific business, tax, and accounting subjects. My forty years of public accounting experience is my best qualification to teach business courses.

If you are having a problem grasping a concept or failing to understand all of the puzzle pieces... maybe I can help you get past the road block and on to the next challenge.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from UNR Reno, NEVADA on May 24, 1975, and Awarded Certified Public Accountant License by Department of Consumer Affairs at September 29, 1978. Stopped renewing my CA CPA License at December 31, 2009.
