My name is Denise. I have been a teacher for 24 years and love watching students get excited about learning. I have taught 4th, 5th and 6th grade and decided to take some time off to be a grandmother. I miss being in the classroom, but I need to have some family time also. I feel the flexibility in tutoring would be the best of both worlds.
I have worked with the Rosedale District my entire teaching career. I have been teacher of the year three times and helped open three new schools. I feel that my lessons are motivating and exciting. My strengths are working with children who are struggling and want to be excited about school. I have great lessons and a very solid background.
Math is my favorite subject to teach. Since I have taught three different grade levels I understand what a student needs to know for the upcoming years.
I feel that I make writing interesting. I love children's literature and love to see students get excited about novels. I read more children's novels than adult novels so that I can stay on top of the great books out there. I also have been the head coordinator for Oral Language.
If you would like to learn and enjoy making growth, I feel I would be a wonderful choice for you. Hi ,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
