Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADHD

As a student in developmental psychology, I specialize in teaching children with learning disorders. Having ADD/ADHD myself, I can personally relate to the problems at hand and use my experience with these disorders to help me communicate ideas and organizational skills effectively. I have taught classes on study skills to underprivileged youth in West Philadelphia while I was at the University of Pennsylvania.

College Counseling

I am a student myself and understand the approach from the student perspective and have gone through the process. I currently attend the University of Pennsylvania and am in the honors program.

I've reviewed college essays and helped complete applications for acceptances into major universities, including Dartmouth College and Stanford University.

Elementary (K-6th)

I enjoy tutoring younger students and have some experience doing so. I have tutored 4th graders at a local elementary school and worked as a teaching assistant for a 6th grade class. Learning rates change drastically during these early years and I understand the necessity for a flexible approach to foster future success.

English

Geometry

Golf

I have been playing golf for twelve years of my life. My handicap the past few months has been an 8 at the University of Pennsylvania where I play golf on the club team. I played varsity golf at The College Preparatory School in Oakland and The Palmer School in Walnut Creek. I one year of teaching experience and I am a member of Roundhill CC.

Philosophy

Philosophy Major at Claremont McKenna College with a focus on political and continental philosophy.

Public Speaking

I taught argumentation, research, organization, and speech skills at weekly practices and weekend workshops for students in the East Bay at San Ramon Valley HS, Oakland Technical HS, College Prep, and Emory HS.

I coached and led Chaminade College Prep in Los Angeles to its first national tournament victory in over a decade while serving as head policy debate coach.

• Taught, developed, and designed debate curriculum, including techniques in evidence evaluation, database and Boolean research, cross-examination and negotiation, rhetorical appeals, logical fallacies, and presentation movement and communication for private coaching and the Dougherty Valley High School summer camp program.

• Former Debate All-American, Stanford Invitational Finalist, USC Damus Champion, and Top 10 in national rankings.

I have taught classes on study skills to underprivileged youth in West Philadelphia while I was at the University of Pennsylvania.

Social Studies

I have participated in Penn's Integrated Studies Program. This program combines multiple disciplines in the humanities and social sciences to teach students how to synthesize information. I have tutored in Social Studies and History over the past 2 years and enjoy both subjects. I focus more on big picture ideas than memorization in my tutoring.

Study Skills

As an experienced student myself, I have development many different study strategies and skills to help propel me to my current standing as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania after attending the College Preparatory School in Oakland.
