About Pam

I have been teaching since 1996, usually math although often other subjects as well. I am also a civil engineer. I have tutored many students, most notably I tutored 2 students from 8th grade though high school. Both are doing well in college now. I have also tutored adults in college and even architecture students.

I love math and I am good at explaining problem solving. I feel proud when students look like a light went off in their brain because now they "get it". I am also funny (I think) and tutoring sessions are usually fun and move quickly.

For advanced subjects I do usually recommend 90 minutes as the tutoring can be much more in depth.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Science

I am a trained engineer and certified teacher. I have taught science for many years and tutored for even more. I am excellent at test prep.

Algebra 1

I am a teacher and an engineer. I taught algebra for 8 years. I have a Masters degree in teaching. I have taken math coursework through calculus, linear algebra and differential equations.

Algebra 2

I have been a Math teacher for more than ten years. I have tutored high school students in algebra 2 as well as more advanced coursework. I have a master's degree in teaching. I am also a trained civil engineer.

Chemistry

I have been a teacher for ore than ten years. I have taught and tutored chemistry. I have taken different chemistry courses at CAL, and CSULA, and SF State. I am a trained civil engineer which requires a deep understanding of chemistry.

Civil Engineering

I am a trained civil engineer. I attended the program at Cal State LA. I passed the EIT exam in 2005 and worked for Middlebrook + Louie Structural Engineering. I tutor engineering students in structural analysis and also architecture students studying for their exams.

Geometry

I have taught math for more than ten years. I have a MA in teaching and a degree in civil engineering and English. I have tutored more than 5 students in geometry for their entire high school course.

Physics

I have been a teacher for more than ten years. I have tutored many high school students through AP physics. I am a civil engineer and I took three challenging courses of physics for scientists and engineers and SFSU. My math and science teaching experience helps me tutor and helps me to impart deep understanding in my students.

Prealgebra

I have been a middle school teacher for more than ten years. It is my preferred age of child to teach. I have been very successful in teaching all levels of math students. I love it and the kids I teach develop their skills and confidence.

Statistics

I am a trained civil engineer and I have a MA in teaching. I have taken three statistics college and masters level courses, in science and education. I have taught math for more than ten years. I have tutored six students through AP Statistics and am currently tutoring one student in college statistics.

Trigonometry

I have been a math teacher for ten years. I have tutored many students in trigonometry. My enjoyment of trigonometry led me to become a civil engineer, but my love of teaching returned me to working with children. My methods focus on deep understanding of material and developing confidence. I also teach other subjects.
