In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Since high school, English has been a strong academic area for me. I have taken Honors-level English in 9th and 10th Grade and AP English Lit as a 12th Grade. I have graduated from Chapman University with a Minor in English. I have also tutored English Language Arts to students of various age groups from Elementary School students to High School students. I am also experienced in tutoring SAT Writing and Reading. Now I am studying to teach English abroad.
I am certified by California State University Long Beach (CSULB) in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). This 160-hour program included, but were not limited to: working hands-on with ESL students, providing help with homework, and teaching reading, speaking, and writing.
As a tutor in SAT, I know firsthand what kind of questions the SAT asks and can prepare you/your son or daughter ahead of time for any questions in the SAT.
