Rebekah is an amazing tutor! She is patient, understanding and works very well with my son who has a learning disability. Her ideas to get him focused and stay on track are great. I would recommend Rebekah to anyone that needs help with tutoring.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a Sunday School teacher and a pastor's wife. On a personal note, I read the bible daily and study the bible on an ongoing basis.
I taught elementary school for several years. It is not uncommon for someone in a teacher's classroom to struggle with Dyslexia. In the past (several years ago), students who struggled with dyslexia were sometimes considered to be slow learners. However, much has been done in order to help students who struggle with dyslexia and it has been found that theses students usually have high IQ's. Students who have dyslexia benefit from multisensory learning. For example, my tutoring students (even if they do not have dyslexia) may be found writing words in shaving cream or singing words aloud ("IS" is taught to the tune of "Are You Sleeping?). Students with dyslexia also greatly benefit from one-on-one help. I am qualified to help them!
