Hi! My name is Shinjini and I'm an incoming freshman at the University of California, Irvine. I was very excited to come across this opportunity for tutoring online on Wyzant's platform, as I love working with kids and teens and have lots of prior experience in working with them. I previously worked at a program which was geared towards helping young kids finish their homework at school, as well as enriching their education with supplementary assignments related to English and math. I also have a year of private tutoring students in Geometry, Algebra, and ACT test prep, and worked with them weekly as needed, and then continued to work with them to make sure they didn't fall behind. I have even interned at Shishur Sevay, an orphanage in Calcutta, India last summer teaching the girls there English and helping them with their studies as well.

I am extremely passionate about always helping students improve in whatever category I can help them with, and would love to help them reach their utmost potential. Tutoring kids opened up a whole new world for me by teaching me that everyone can make a change for someone else, no matter how small the change may seem. I am confident that my passion and experience are the qualities that will help YOU succeed.

I understand that some kids may learn at a different pace, and may take longer to understand concepts, as I was often that student. As a student myself, learning sometimes can be difficult, so it is up to the teacher to come up with engaging ways of teaching that will reach students in ways that standard ways don't. I'm able to find new and creative ways to address a problem, making sure that the student is completely understanding the concept.

I want to make sure that I am able to help you to the best of my ability, so please feel free to contact me and give me any suggestions! I am easy to reach and will always provide fast responses. I'm also open to having a free consultation meeting prior to beginning tutoring!

Public Speaking

Public Speaking

In high school, I was in Speech and Debate all four years, and was officer of the team for two years, and a captain of my respective event. Public speaking gave me a platform to speak my thoughts, and it became a safe haven for me. I slowly helped my fellow team members gain confidence in their public speaking skills, and continued building a family through our love for public speaking.

I took Spanish from my sophomore year in high school, and still have all my super helpful notes and lessons, which made Spanish so much easier. I am pretty fluent in it now, and can help with writing, grammar, reading, or vocab. There are many different resources that I can provide students with that will make learning Spanish a lot easier!

Elementary Education

Elementary Math,

Elementary Math

During my junior year of high school, I worked at an after school program for elementary and middle school kids. This program was geared towards helping young kids finish their homework at school, as well as enriching their education with supplementary assignments related to English and math. I'm really good with young kids and I have a lot of patience to work with them!

I took the ACT myself in high school, and I was quite comfortable with the format. The ACT English section tests the same 14 or so concepts, and if you become a pro at these concepts, you are on your way to getting a good score! I can help with these 14 concepts, and help you get much better at testing with the given time constraint.

ACT Science

I took the ACT myself, and received a 36 on the science section. I know how to pick apart passages and really understand what the question is asking all within the time limit. Mastering the ACT science section is pretty simple once you know the three different types of passages, and how to approach the questions with ease.
