I love mathematics and helping students understand and appreciate math. My undergraduate psychology degree from the University of Southern California has made me more sensitive in dealing with students from diverse backgrounds. I understand many different learning styles, and will work with what works for them.

I teach high school and undergraduate college math: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Differential Equation. My specialty is in Calculus, Geometry, and Trigonometry.

I'm generally available 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and weekends, and I can travel to students. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you succeed in math!

Mathematica,

Mathematica

I received a B.A. in mathematics from the University of Southern California. I also received a M.S. in applied mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Both school are top research universities in the nation. During my graduate studies, I took scientific computational classes and Computational Partial Differential Equation classes which required me to use Mathematica to solve various numerical mathematics problems. I can say that I am pretty good with Mathematica. I can use it to do some basic plotting or solving problem, or even write programs to solve problems repeatedly.

Most of all, it makes me understand mathematical concepts better.

Very patient tutor

I understand more since I decided to tutor with her. She helps me until I understand the lesson. I’d like to go see her again if I have math problems in the future.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Susan is such an awesome tutor. She really helps me understand the material and is very nice and patient. Flexible schedule as well. I feel very safe and comfortable in the environment she sets up in her lovely home. My grades have improved ever since I started seeing Susan.

Kyra, 9 lessons with Susan

Great tutor

Susan helped me break down the math problems in ways I could understand. I liked that she taught me the concepts and then guided me as I worked through the problem on my own. Susan is a great tutor!

Knowledgeable and helpful tutor

Susan taught my daughter pre-calculus for three sessions now. She is very helpful and knowledgeable. My daughter said that she would like to continue the sessions until she finishes calculus AB/BC.

Jane, 29 lessons with Susan

Knowledgeable

My son had a couple lessons with Susan for Algebra 2 and he is able to go through his lessons and have his questions answered in a way it is easy for him to understand. She is engaging, knowledgeable, and very thorough.

Very knowledgeable and patient

My daughter has had several tutors, both private and in a classroom setting. I think she particularly liked Susan because she answered questions and also asked my daughter how she arrived at the answer. Hopefully, she will be able to help my daughter no be so fearful of math and actually like it and be more confident in the subject.
