Eventually I came to realize that with effort, practice and patience it wasn't so bad after all. Now I am on a quest to continue my mathematical education and to help others get through their struggles as well.
My personal experience with tutoring began with my younger sibling whom I tutored in English, reading comprehension, and math. I also have experience working with young children, as I was a physical education teacher at the local elementary school in my neighborhood. Aside from that I've tutored and assisted my friends and peers from time to time, however, working for WyzAnt will be my first official tutoring position. I am eager to start helping others!

Thank you for checking out my profile! Please feel free to contact me at any time. I will work hard to respond to you as soon as I can.

Grammar

Grammar

Due to having taken Honors an AP English courses in high school and college, I have a strong writing background. I often proofread my peers work for them and as a result became proficient in correcting grammar mistakes. When I was studying for the SAT's I spent a lot of time studying grammar then as well.

Elementary Education

Elementary Math,

Elementary Math

I have a younger sibling who just finished elementary school. During her entire time there I tutored her in math, an in turn learned a thing or two about common core. I am quite familiar with the subjects and courses taught for elementary students right now. Though it does not relate to math I also have experience teaching elementary PE classes, and as a result experience working with kids in elementary school. I taught at Longley Way Elementary.

Vocabulary

As an individual growing up I had strong memorization skills. I also read and write a lot in my spare time and as a result have developed a wide range of vocabulary. In high school I was an honors an AP English student, which resulted in heavy reading and writing at the time which lead to an improved vocabulary. In college I am an honors English student and have received A's in all my honors courses. Finally, like almost all students, I have had to take the SAT's before. I did a lot of vocab studying at that time as well.

Writing

In high school I took honors an AP English courses to improve my writing. I did well in these courses and as a result spent a great deal of time writing essays. Therefore, once I began college, I was admitted into their Honors Program and began taking honors English courses there. I received A's in these classes. A lot of the social science courses I took in college, like philosophy, demanded high level writing as well. I have been writing essays of all types for quite some time now and have been proofreading and helping others with their writing for just as long.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Aside from the fact I have taken Algebra 1 myself, I am very comfortable working with algebra as it is the foundation for everything I do in higher level math today. I also tutored some friends of mine in college, who placed into college level algebra. Therefore I've worked with some Algebra 1 and 2 students before.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Being an undergraduate mathematics major I've taken almost all the general math courses offered (Algebra 2 I took in high school) so I am quite familiar with all forms of math. I use algebra 2 on a daily basis since it is the foundation for higher level math. I also have experience tutoring friends and peers in college who had placed into college level algebra. I am very comfortable with this subject.
Geometry,

Geometry

Since I am a mathematics major I spend a lot of time working with materials in geometry and algebra to succeed in higher level math problems. I am familiar and comfortable with the curriculum. I have taken geometry before myself.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I have a younger sibling who is currently enduring pre algebra, so I spend a lot of time tutoring her at home. I am familiar with the curriculum for it right now. Aside from that I am a mathematics major and have taken this course myself.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I have actually taken this course twice! I took it in high school and again in college. So my understanding of the curriculum is actually stronger than most of the subjects I am approved for. I also tutored close high school friends of mine in pre calculus when I was in college. I am very comfortable with pre calc/ math analysis to say the least. I received an A in this course.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Due to the fact I took both pre calculus and calculus twice, once in high school an again in college, I have a lot of trigonometry experience. I really enjoyed this portion of math, perhaps its because memorization is one of my strong suits and trigonometry demands a lot of memorization. When I tutored my friends in pre calculus and calculus it was focused primarily on the trig portions of these subjects. So I am most familiar right now with trigonometry (and most passionate).

Patient and flexible tutor

We have been happy with Taylor so far because she is patient and easy to understand for my 6th grade son who struggles a bit with some math concepts. She is also flexible with her schedule which works for us because it is hard for us to commit to a regular weekly time.

So Patient and helpful

Taylor was great with my daughter, she found the areas that my daughter needed help with and patiently repeated the steps. By the time she left my daughter felt better and more comfortable about the test she was going to have the next day. We were so appreciative that Taylor was able to tutor her on such a short notice.

First lesson was great!

My 12yr. old son had his first lesson with Taylor today! We will defiantly be scheduling more soon! He has been struggling with Pre-Algebra and needed some extra help...She was very punctual and met us at our local library. He was very happy that she clearly explained everything! He left the lesson with completed math homework, a clear understanding of the lesson and more confidence!

Amazing Math Goddess

I'm writing this for my 11 year old daughter whom is in 7th grade in a accelerated 7/8 math program. I can't tell you the knowledge, confidence and most importantly the joy she gives to my daughter. My daughter has named Taylor the Amazing Math Goddess for making pre-algebra, algebra understandable in this common core era. Taylor is very very sweet, punctual and respectful...and she responds to your messages in a timely manner. Honestly, my daughter almost don't want to share her but she knows she must. Anyone who needs tutoring with math should not hesitate to hire Taylor. We love her!
