University of La Verne (MEd)
I have an MEd from University of La Verne. I have taught English, journalism, and ESL classes for more than 10 years in public high schools and enjoy working one-on-one with high school and adult students. I have helped students improve reading comprehension, writing skills, understanding literature, giving oral presentations, and expanding vocabulary as well as spelling improvement.
I am very patient, and if something isn't working, I try multiple ways to help a student understand a concept. I love that moment when the light bulb comes on over someone's head and they "get it." I love it even more when a student takes what we work on and succeeds in using it to get a good grade on a test. I believe anyone has a chance to succeed if they have the right person with the right tools and attitude to show them the way. Let me support you as a partner in your success!
I have worked with students at all levels who have started with Cs and Ds improve their grades to As and Bs in English. I believe that all students possess all different types of intelligence and finding which one or a combination of them is the key to helping them learn.
I have lots of strategies in in my "tool box" that work with all types of students from my years of experience that have helped literature come alive for the reluctant to advanced learner.
Whether you just need some help with homework or are struggling with a subject and need more extensive instruction to get your grades up, I can help. When you send me a message, let me know what you need help with and times that would work for you. I look forward to helping you in your pursuit of success! I have an MEd from University of La Verne. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
