About Armond

Work:
I'm currently the resident statistician for California Mental Health Connection, a non-profit organization in Baldwin Park, CA that provides therapy for victims of crime and care for individuals who suffer from mental health illnesses with complex trauma/co-occurring disorders. My main function is to evaluate the intervention programs that have shown to improve victim's mental conditions using various statistical modeling, and I also provide the quantitative analysis section of the center's current and future grant-funding projects.

Education:
- University of Southern California, Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Entrepreneurial Studies & Finance, conferred Fall 2004. Presidential Scholarship recipient and Dean's List standing.
- California State University Fullerton, Masters of Environmental Studies & Science Technology, conferred Spring 2013. Graduated with Cum Laude honors.
- John Hopkins University, (enrolled 2015), Data Science Certification

I'm very well versed in the subject of statistics whether its probabilities, descriptives, graphing tools, hypothesis testing, parametric & non-parametric tests, correlations (binary/multivariate), regressions (linear, multivariate, and logistic), ANOVA/ANCOVA/MANOVA, exploratory/confirmatory factor analysis, latent growth curve modeling, cluster analysis, discriminant analysis, survival analysis, conjoint analysis, time-series analysis, forecasting, cluster analysis and structural equation modeling (AMOS) and LISREL.

And I have applied survey designs, data management, statistical modeling and data analysis during a one-year research project as the project leader at the Orange County Great Park in Irvine CA. The results of which, were presented to city councils, park managers, board members of the park, and also, the findings were included in the grant writing projects of the city park. Currently, I'm consulting for several non-profit organizations by creating research platforms to study complex trauma among victims to determine effective intervention programs, tech-start ups for trends/projections/cluster analysis, and a vineyard operation in Santa Barbara to examine efficiencies in organizational development.

I have more than 7 years of experience using IBM's SPSS statistical program (from version 16 to current version 21) including structural equation modeling programs in AMOS and LISREL.

Additionally, I also have an extensive experience in spatial analytics using Geographical Information Systems (ArcGIS) version 10 & 10.1 including ArcMap, ArcScene, ArcGlobe, ArcCatalog and software extensions in Tracking Analyst, Spatial Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst, 3D Analyst, and Model Builder.

My graduate training introduced me to the fundamentals of "Scientific Research Methodologies", principles of Ecology (Evolutionary & Behavioral Ecology, Population ecology, Community ecology, Ecosystems ecology and Applied ecology), scientific literature review and survey design/modeling analysis.

Finally, my style of tutoring includes a mutual interaction, cooperation, and integrative approach between the student and the tutor. My function as a tutor is to offer students guidance throughout the tutorial process where not only the student will learn from me but I believe, I will also learn something new from them, and that's why I look forward to every students that I tutored in the past and in the present because of its dynamic synergy.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Ecology

Graduate courses taken in relation to the tutor position includes: Courses in "Environmental Issues & Approaches" & "Environmental Evaluation & Protection" explores the history of environmental thought, the principles of ecology (Evolutionary & Behavioral Ecology, Population Ecology, Community Ecology, Ecosystems Ecology & Applied Ecology), and focusing on a wide variety of environmental problems, including overpopulation, food & water security, extinction of biodiversity, deforestation, unsustainable exploitation of marine & freshwater ecosystems, over reliance on fossil fuels, accumulation of waste, pollution, and global climate change. Understanding of a general overview of environmental problems and their impacts human and environmental health.

My tutoring style involves an interactive, cooperative, and integrative approach.

SPSS

I have more than 8 years experience using IBM's SPSS statistical program (from version 12 to current version 21) including extensions in SPSS AMOS and SPSS Modeler. I have taken college courses in statistics, both in undergraduate business statistics (USC) and graduate level scientific research methods (CSUF), biostatistics (John Hopkins University).

I have cleaned raw data from my clientele and have properly named, assigned codes for missing values and coded each variables for grouping factors, and planned contrasts.

My approach to data analysis, typically begins with a diagnostic test for normality, homogeneity of variance test, examining for kurtosis & skewness, assumption of sphericity (repeated measures), and examining graphs, boxplots, scatterplots for any outliers.

Once the diagnostic test is done, the statistical method will be determined from the diagnostic test whether a parametric or non-parametric design will be employed for comprehensive data analysis. And the analysis is not limited to descriptives, graphs/charts, chi-square test, t-test (dependent, independent), ANOVA/ANCOVA/MANOVA, correlations (bivariate/multivariate), regressions (linear, multivariate, logistics), time-series analysis, forecasting, exploratory/confirmatory factor analysis, discriminant analysis, cluster analysis, correspondence analysis, multidimensional scaling, time-series analysis, forecasting, and structural equation modeling using SPSS AMOS.

Helped Me Fully Understand — Armond was instrumental in helping me complete my dissertation. Although I had taken two semesters of social science statistics, the task of conducting and analyzing my own research was terrifying - statistical concepts just do not come easily to me! Armond helped me fully understand my data, select the right analyses, and interpret the results so that I could write up and, ultimately, defend my f ...
