My name is Bryan and I have a Master's degree in English Literature. I have taught every grade level from preschool to university and I love working with students. Seeing the "light go on" for a student is a very special moment that I enjoy. I am a local youth pastor where I get to work with students on a daily basis. I have a deep passion to see students learn and to strive beyond what they thought they could ever do.
I specialize in reading and comprehension of both fiction and non-fiction as well as elements of writing from very
elementary to college level. I have 4 years experience teaching at a private university in Southern California. Within the context of each session, I strive to challenge the student while at the same tome keeping the lesson light and at time fun. I believe that when a student enjoys the lesson, the information is more easily retained and the student tends to stress less. Overburdening a student can cause anxiety that is not beneficial for academic success.
What makes me an outstanding reading tutor is not only an understanding of comprehension, but a desire to know my students more. This allows me to treat them individually knowing when to press them a little harder and when to offer more grace. Students tend to respond to those they know and trust. This is a key element in teaching.
Feel free to contact me about my schedule. Being a pastor allows quite a bit of freedom. I can't wait to hear from you soon. My name is Bryan and I have a Master's degree in English Literature. I have taught every grade level from preschool to university and I love working with students.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a youth pastor which allows me the opportunity to read and study my Bible daily. I also preach each and every Sunday where I strive to implore the congregation to live a life of true discipleship. My experience as a pastor has allowed to to be able to understand Hebrew and Greek much more in order to gain a deeper understanding of God's Word and the expectations placed upon the call Christian disciples have chosen to answer.
