I enjoy working with Elementary, Middle school and High school students! I have been teaching students in public schools for over 20 years and tutoring students in my neighborhood for 10 years. My specialty is offering homework help with English, math, science, social studies, study skills and other subjects as needed. I have experience with autistic children and children with physical handicaps. I have worked with students in private schools, Charter schools, home schools and with students in Independent Study programs. I have a clear teaching credential and a NCLB certificate (Federal No Child Left Behind Act). I have high standards and I believe that all children can succeed in school.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching K-6th grade students with a Teaching Credential verified by my credentials on file at CCTC since 1-29-01.
Students will improving basic skills learning to add, subtract, multiply and divide up to three digit numbers. Students will get help with understanding fractions, decimals, percents with conversions. Students learn how to round numbers to the tens, hundreds or thousands place. Students learn how to use a number line to compare numbers. Students can improve measurement skills and estimating skills. After basic math skills are mastered, students can challenge graphing numbers, using pie charts and solving word problems.
My teaching credential authorizes me to teach students 12th grade and below for the following students: 1)Limited English proficient, 2)English Language Learners, 3)Cross Cultural Language & Academic Development (CLAD) verified by my credentials on file at CCTC valid 7/01/2007 to 7/01/2012.
I specialize in tutoring K-6 Writing. First, I teach students the basics of writing sentences and paragraphs. Next I strengthen student vocabulary using a "WORD" wall. Then we will begin writing sentences and paragraphs. Finally we will practice writing the clasic five paragraph essay. At this point students will practice writing all of the following essay types including; Persuasive, Compare and Contrast, and the Narrative essay. Creative writing and Poetry is optional if requested.
